From Wendy Way to Laurel Avenue: A Move in Manhattan Beach
In late May, Adept Moving performed a move at Wendy Way, Manhattan Beach. The micro-neighborhood inside East Manhattan Beach is mostly single-family homes down the block.
The pickup point has a straight, wide concrete driveway running alongside the lawn, long enough to fit a 26-foot truck. To book the move, the client confirmed the access. Since he was going to take oversized items to a new home closer to his current work, I decided to go there as a three-mover crew. Alexey and Artem helped me to get the job done.
The Move at a Glance

Pickup at Wendy Way
When we were informed of the access details, we picked the most suitable timetable for the client. It was important to get the job done early in the morning. The client confirmed the window didn't fall in the street's sweeping hours.
Our crew came as agreed in the morning and began to work. Before starting, we protected the floors with our floor runners.
I went straight to the bedroom, where I packed the clothes in our wardrobe cartons. I carried each one outside the house and loaded them all after packing. Then I wrapped two nightstands in the moving blankets. For extra protection, I used stretch wrap, which was billed separately. I asked Artem to help me carry the nightstands from the bedroom to the truck. The client didn't plan to move the bed and the mattress. Neither belonged to him (both were already in the house when he moved in).
We got back then to manage the two dressers in the same room. Two moving blankets were needed. Plus, we packed the dressers with stretch wrap, added as an extra line item.
While we were busy in the bedroom, Alexey worked on the kitchen. The owner had unplugged both the fridge and the microwave, so Alexey just covered each item using our moving blankets and waited for us to come and help move them. We then helped him load both items on the dolly, and the guys moved them to the truck.
I went to the dining room and disassembled the table. I packed the table legs together using packing supplies provided by the client and then packed the tabletop with those same supplies. Six chairs were protected with moving blankets. Artem and I then carried each chair to the truck.
At the home office, Alexey wrapped the desk with our moving blankets for protection and brought it over to the moving truck. The flat-screen TV was in the living room. He packed the TV into the original box and added our moving blanket for extra protection since it was a fragile item. Alexey positioned it away from the other items in the truck.
The client showed us four pre-packed household boxes in the living room. They had already been wrapped using the client’s packing materials. After the final check, we set off to Laurel Avenue.
Drop-off at Laurel Avenue
The drop-off point was a New England-style 2-story single-family home with confirmed access. The street was quite narrow, which is why the crew parked legally further down the block. Then we had to carry items a slightly longer distance than at the pickup point.
The 4 household boxes went straight to the living room, where we left them so the client would take care of them. Artem helped me to move the flat-screen TV to the living room and went back to get the desk to place it in the home library, upon the client’s request. Then, Alexey brought the tabletop and table legs to the kitchen, where he assembled it. He returned for the six chairs and carried each to the kitchen as well.
Together with Artem, we delivered both the fridge and the microwave to the kitchen and placed them where the client pointed. Two dressers and two nightstands came next. I helped Alexey move each to the bedroom, where the client showed us the most suitable place for all pieces. Finally, the guys brought the three wardrobe cartons and left them in the bedroom as well.
Everything was done carefully, and once the client confirmed the job was finished, we returned to the office.
