Adept Moving is a California-licensed moving company (license MTR0190206) that has served Rolling Hills since 1998, rated 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 reviews. Our yard is on Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood. Rolling Hills sits about 30 to 35 miles south on the crest of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, so we take the I-405 to the I-110 or Hawthorne Boulevard, then climb Palos Verdes Drive to one of the city's three manned gates. Every move here starts the same way: guard clearance at the Main, Crest, or Eastfield gate, set up ahead through the Rolling Hills Community Association. We've loaded out of the ranch estates on Portuguese Bend Road, the ridge homes on Crest Road, and horse properties off Eastfield Drive. The rate starts from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is separate, and there's no fuel surcharge and nothing hidden at the end. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote.

Serving Rolling Hills from North Hollywood

Our yard sits on Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, about 30 to 35 miles north of Rolling Hills on the crest of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. We run US-101 to the I-405 south through the South Bay, then the I-110 or Hawthorne Boulevard, SR-107, and climb Palos Verdes Drive North and East to the city's gates. That covers every corner of Rolling Hills reached through the Main, Crest, and Eastfield gates: the ranch estates along Portuguese Bend Road, the ridge homes on Crest Road, the horse properties off Eastfield Drive, and the interior canyon lanes off Chuckwagon and Saddleback.

What we know about moving in Rolling Hills

    Who's moving here

Almost all of our Rolling Hills work is single-family, and it ties to the gates and the ranch estates behind them. Most are affluent homeowners on one-acre-plus lots: mid-century single-story ranch homes with long private driveways and split-rail-fenced grounds along Portuguese Bend Road, Crest Road, and the interior lanes. A good share keep horses, with barns, stables, and tack rooms, so those moves pull in outbuilding contents alongside the main house. We also see a lot of retirees and long-tenured owners downsizing after decades in one place, usually with years of accumulated household goods, plus estate households moving in or out around a remodel, which means working with the Community Association and clearing the gate first. We handle Rolling Hills as part of our Los Angeles moving services, run out of North Hollywood like the rest of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Plenty of these moves stay close, a household shifting north to Rolling Hills Estates and the Peninsula Center on Palos Verdes Drive North, and we run those regularly.

How the streets shape a move

The gate comes first here, ahead of anything else about the move, because the whole city is private and gated, with no through public street and no public curb the way most towns have. Inside the three gates, Portuguese Bend Road, Crest Road, Eastfield Drive, and the deeper lanes off Chuckwagon and Saddleback wind through canyon terrain with steep grades and none of the usual curbs, gutters, sidewalks, or streetlights. Driveways run long and sloped, split-rail fencing and bridle trails sit close to the edge, and there's rarely much room to turn around. On plenty of these approaches a 26-foot truck can't make the grade or come back around at the top, so we bring the 18-foot box truck, the smallest we run, when the big one won't fit. The Portuguese Bend landslide complex on the seaward flank of the Peninsula isn't far off, and this ground has shifted for decades, so heavy-truck access on some hillside lots takes real planning. Which truck we bring, and where it sits, gets worked out property by property.

    Gate clearance and timing

Move day in Rolling Hills goes smoother when the gate is sorted ahead. All three entries, the Main Gate on Portuguese Bend Road, the Crest Gate on Crest Road West, and the Eastfield Gate off Palos Verdes Drive East, are manned around the clock by the Community Association, and entry is by resident invitation, so you clear our crew and truck with the gatehouse in advance and we time our arrival to that window. Once inside, the private lanes set where a truck can sit, so we plan the staging and the carry with you before the day and ask you to walk the driveway so we know the pitch and the turnaround. The traffic that matters is on the approach, the I-405 and I-110 through the South Bay and the climb up Hawthorne Boulevard and Palos Verdes Drive, so a mid-morning start, once the early crush thins, usually keeps that leg quick and the meter fair. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote, so nothing there catches you out. We go over all of it before the day.

    Why Rolling Hills picks Adept

Licensed since 1998, with a rate that's plain to read and a crew that knows gated Peninsula estates and canyon driveways.

    5.0 with over 2,000 reviews

We hold a 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 verified reviews. That track record is what we'd point a new Rolling Hills customer to first, and it's the reason most of our work comes by referral.

    From $99/hr, two movers

Our rate is $99 per hour for a two-mover crew, cash. Regular cargo insurance is included, the truck fee's separate, and there's no fuel surcharge.

    No hidden fees

What's in the written quote is what you pay. No surprise add-ons at the curb, and double drive time is advised on the quote up front.

    Licensed and insured

We're California-licensed, MTR0190206, with an A+ rating at the BBB. The paperwork's real, and we're glad to show it at the gate.

The right truck for private roads

Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, made for steep private driveways and narrow canyon lanes. The 26-foot is our standard for bigger loads.

    Local since 1998

We've worked out of North Hollywood since 1998, a 30-to-35-mile haul to Rolling Hills. The gated approach, guard clearance, and canyon driveways aren't new to us.

What we move in Rolling Hills

    Local Moving in Rolling Hills

    Local Moving in Rolling Hills

House, ranch estate, or guest quarters, we handle Rolling Hills local moves from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, with regular cargo insurance included. We wrap furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap, lay floor runners on your floors, and bring dollies and wardrobe cartons. If you've got an upright or baby grand piano, a gun safe, fine art, antiques, or a home gym, tell us up front so we plan for it. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote.

Household offices and estate relocations in Rolling Hills

Household offices and estate relocations in Rolling Hills

Rolling Hills is almost entirely residential, with no retail or office district inside the gates, so most of what looks like commercial work here is an in-home office or a full estate relocation. We move desks, files, and office equipment from a home study at our hourly rate with a two-mover crew, and we handle larger estate moves that pull in outbuildings, barns, and tack rooms alongside the main residence. If the Community Association asks for a certificate of insurance for the crew on its private roads, a standard general-liability COI is included, and custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately. Tell us the gate and any Association rules when you ask for your quote, and we'll plan the crew start around the clearance.

Packing and unpacking in Rolling Hills

Packing and unpacking in Rolling Hills

If you want a hand with the boxing, our crew packs and unpacks at the hourly rate, and disposable packing materials and supplies are billed separately, not folded into the $99. We bring moving blankets, bubble wrap, dollies, and wardrobe cartons, and we can do a full pack or just the kitchen and the breakables while you handle the rest. Packing labor is billed at the same hourly crew time as the move, not a separate flat quote. Tell us how much you want done and we'll give you a realistic read in the written quote.

What to know before you move in Rolling Hills

A few local details that keep move day smooth, from gate clearance to canyon driveways.

    Permits and gate rules

    Permits and gate rules

Rolling Hills is different from most cities we serve, because there is no public curb to permit. Every road inside the three gates is private property held on Rolling Hills Community Association easements, so day-to-day move access, gate entry, and any staging on the interior lanes are governed by the Association rather than a public permit counter. For municipal right-of-way or encroachment questions that do touch city jurisdiction, the City of Rolling Hills runs City Hall at #2 Portuguese Bend Road, just inside the Main Gate, reachable at 310-377-1521. Because the specific advance-notice rule for clearing a moving truck through a gate was not something we could pin down from public sources, we'd confirm the current requirement with the Community Association gatehouse at 1 Portuguese Bend Road directly before move day. Whether the Association charges a fee, asks for proof of insurance, or limits truck hours at the gate is worth checking at the same time. Oversize or overweight truck movement on the connecting state highways, the I-110 and Hawthorne Boulevard, SR-107, is handled by Caltrans, separate from anything inside the gates. If you have questions about how we stage, call us at (800) 307-1302 and we'll walk it through.

    Gated entry and guard clearance

    Gated entry and guard clearance

The whole city sits behind three manned gates that the Rolling Hills Community Association staffs around the clock: the Main Gate where Portuguese Bend Road meets Palos Verdes Drive North, the Crest Gate on Crest Road West, and the Eastfield Gate where Eastfield Drive meets Palos Verdes Drive East. Entry is by resident invitation only, so the crew and the truck have to be cleared with the gatehouse by you ahead of time, and that clearance is the first thing that has to line up before anything gets loaded. Once you've set it, we time our arrival to the window you arranged and roll straight to the property, rather than sitting at the gate sorting out access. Inside, the roads are private and narrow with no through route, so the guard log and the arrival time keep the day moving. If the Community Association asks for a certificate of insurance for the crew on its roads, a standard general-liability COI is included for that kind of job, and if they want custom additional-insured wording, we quote that separately. Tell us which gate you use and any rules the Association sets when you ask for your quote, and we'll plan the crew start around the clearance.

    Hillside and canyon access

    Hillside and canyon access

The entire city is hillside, laid out along the crest of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and that shapes nearly every move. Portuguese Bend Road, Crest Road, Eastfield Drive, and the deeper interior lanes off Chuckwagon and Saddleback wind through canyon terrain with steep grades, long private driveways, and tight turnarounds, and none of them carry curbs, gutters, sidewalks, or streetlights. On plenty of these approaches a 26-foot truck can't make the grade or turn around at the top, so we send our 18-foot box truck, the smallest we run, and stage at the nearest safe spot when a driveway is too steep or too long to reach the door. The Portuguese Bend landslide complex on the seaward side of the Peninsula is nearby, and the area has a long history of land movement, so heavy-truck access on some hillside lots is worth thinking through in advance. We don't run a shuttle service, and we won't promise to force a truck up a grade it can't hold, so on these lots a pre-move walkthrough earns its keep. Walk the driveway and the interior lane before the day and tell us the carry distance, the pitch, and whether a long truck can even turn around at the top, and we'll size the truck and crew for the hill.

    Ranch estates and equestrian properties

    Ranch estates and equestrian properties

Rolling Hills was founded in 1936 as a private equestrian ranch community, and the housing has held that character: mostly single-story mid-century ranch estates on one-acre-plus lots, with split-rail fencing, long driveways, and horse properties carrying barns, stables, and tack rooms. The carry changes with it. Many homes spread wide with generous rooms, but the approach from the road can be a long walk down a sloped drive, and equestrian easements and bridle trails often run right alongside, so we stage carefully to protect the trail frontage and the fencing. Inside, a wide sofa or sectional sometimes takes a careful angle, and other times we take a door off the hinges or break down a bed frame to get it clear. A mattress doesn't come apart, so we carry it flat and ease a box spring through on the diagonal. On horse properties, a move can pull in outbuilding contents alongside the main residence, so tell us up front what's coming from the barn or the tack room. We wrap furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap, lay floor runners on the floors, and pad built-ins on the way out. We don't pre-measure on a site visit, so it helps to describe the doorways, stairs, and any large or specialty pieces when you ask for the quote.

    Best days and times

    Best days and times

Rolling Hills is a small, high-tenure enclave with low overall move volume, no apartment turnover, and no student cycle, so activity spreads through the year and keys off individual estate sales, downsizing, and remodel-related moves. The one clear peak is summer, June through August, aligned with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District calendar and end-of-school-year household moves, so those dates fill faster and the best availability tends to land mid-week and mid-month. The traffic that affects your day is on the approach, not inside the gates: I-405 and I-110 through the South Bay, and the climb up Hawthorne Boulevard, Crenshaw Boulevard, and Palos Verdes Drive onto the Peninsula all back up at rush hour. A mid-morning start, once the early crush clears, is usually the sweet spot, since the drive stays short and you're not paying for the crew to sit in traffic. Gate and guard coordination also tends to go smoother mid-week than on a busy weekend. We'll talk timing through when we put your written quote together, so the crew start matches your gate clearance and your access.

Max & Alex are the best movers. They showed up exactly on time and brought any supplies that you may need. They took a lot of care with all my belongings and were super helpful packing up boxes. They took apart my king bed and reassembled it perfectly. They even fixed a loose bolt leaving the bed in better condition than when they arrived. Not a scratch or a ding on anything!...

Not gonna lie after all the quotes I got I was a little skeptical with how affordable their rate was (but I was desperate to save some money haha). But they were amazing! Vladimir and Alik were my 2 men and they handled everything carefully and delicately and like they’ve been doing it forever. They’ve got it down to a science. Nothing damaged or scratched or scuffed or anything and very helpful and communicative. Will def be using them if I ever need to move here again.

After our first movers could not finish the job, I contacted Adept and they fit us in at a very busy time. Our two movers were hardworking and funny and really took care of our belongings. Their rate was much less than our first movers, who did not take great care of our things. I highly recommend Adept Movers.

    Recent Rolling Hills moves

    Portuguese Bend ranch estate, 90274

This one was a full-home move out of a mid-century single-story ranch estate on a one-acre-plus lot just inside the Main Gate off Portuguese Bend Road, 90274. The resident had cleared the crew and truck with the Rolling Hills Community Association gatehouse ahead of time, so we timed our arrival to the window and rolled straight in. Before loading, the crew walked the long private driveway and split-rail-fenced grounds to settle where the truck would stage, then wrapped furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap and laid floor runners through the entry. A two-mover crew, hourly, with regular cargo insurance already included.

    Portuguese Bend Road, 90274

    Eastfield Drive equestrian estate, 90274

A move from an equestrian horse-property estate reached through the Eastfield Gate, 90274, where a winding private canyon road, bridle-trail easements, and a long sloped driveway limited large-van access. The crew coordinated guard clearance, walked the approach beforehand, and worked from the 18-foot truck at a staging spot that protected the trail frontage and fencing. They carried contents from the main residence and the outbuildings, padding everything in moving blankets and bubble wrap. The gate clearance was set with the Community Association ahead of time, so the crew arrived to it and kept the load moving. A two-mover crew, hourly, with the cargo insurance included.

    Eastfield Drive, 90274

    Crest Road ridge-line home, 90274

A downsizing job out of a ridge-line ranch home entered through the Crest Gate off Crest Road West, 90274. Steep grades, a long private driveway, no curb parking, and no streetlights meant the crew scouted the route first and set the gate clearance for the arrival window. They loaded in an order that let the truck turn and get back out safely on the narrow private road, wrapped the furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap, and ran floor runners down through the entry. A two-mover crew, hourly, with regular cargo insurance included.

    Rolling Hills Moving FAQs

    Rolling Hills-specific questions

Our rate starts from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, paid in cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is separate, and there's no fuel surcharge or hidden fees. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. We put the whole estimate in writing before move day, and you can reach us at (800) 307-1302 with questions.

We don't currently offer same-day moves. A Rolling Hills move takes planning, gate clearance arranged through the Community Association, and the right truck for a steep private driveway, so we'd rather set it up properly than rush it. Reach out as early as you can and we'll get you a written quote and a date that works. Even a few days' notice helps us clear the crew through the Main, Crest, or Eastfield gate and size the truck for your driveway.

Because the entire city is private and gated, access runs through the Rolling Hills Community Association rather than a public parking permit. All three gates are manned around the clock, and entry is by resident invitation, so you clear our crew and truck with the gatehouse ahead of time and we time our arrival to that window. For municipal right-of-way questions, City Hall is at 310-377-1521. We'll tell you exactly where we need the truck so you can arrange the clearance and any staging with the Association.

It depends on your load and your driveway. Our 26-foot truck is the standard for bigger moves. Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, and it's the one we send for the steep grades, long private driveways, and tight turnarounds on Portuguese Bend Road, Crest Road, Eastfield Drive, and the interior canyon lanes, where a 26-foot truck often can't make the grade or turn around. Tell us your address and how much you're moving, and we'll size the truck before move day.

Yes. Our crew packs and unpacks at the hourly rate, and disposable packing materials and supplies are billed separately, not included in the $99. We bring boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, and wardrobe cartons. We also handle specialty pieces like an upright or baby grand piano, gun safes, fine art, antiques, and home gyms, so let us know up front and we'll plan the crew and equipment around them.

Yes. We're licensed by the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, license number MTR0190206, and BBB-accredited with an A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance is included on every move at no extra charge. For commercial moves, a standard COI with general liability is included; custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately.

    General questions

It's hourly, starting at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is billed separately. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees. We put the hourly rate in writing before you book, so there's nothing to guess at on the day.

A clean 5.0 on Google across more than 2,000 reviews comes down to a few habits: a clear written quote before you book, uniformed and background-checked crews, regular cargo insurance on every job, and no pressure afterward. Plenty of movers chase volume. We'd rather earn the next job by referral, and the reviews are what come out of that.

For a mid-week, mid-month date, a week's notice is usually plenty. Weekends, the end of the month, and the summer stretch from June through August fill up faster, so give it two to three weeks if you can. We don't currently offer same-day moves, so it's worth getting on the calendar early either way.

Life happens. Reach out as early as you can and we'll work with you to find the next open slot that fits. The sooner you let us know, the easier it is to move the crew around.
