Permits and street rules

Oversize truck movement on state routes like SR-60 and SR-57 is handled by Caltrans, separate from a city curb permit.

Commercial and campus-edge building access

Walnut doesn't have a dense downtown high-rise core. Hillside and equestrian access

The north and hillside sides of Walnut are where access gets real. Snow Creek and Timberline sit on graded slopes with sloped driveways, looped cul-de-sacs, and limited turnaround room. Meadow Pass Road and the custom-home streets off it are narrow and winding, with long, pitched driveways and little shoulder to spare. Walnut's housing splits by era, and the carry changes with it. Central Walnut around La Puente Road holds single-story, ranch-style tract homes from the 1960s and early 1970s, built after the city incorporated in 1959, with some later apartment stock. The hillside tracts up in Snow Creek, Timberline, and along Meadow Pass came later, mostly the 1980s through the 2000s, and run to larger two-story homes with wide layouts but tight interior staircases. We pad the staircases and any built-in cabinetry on the way out, lay floor runners on the floors, and wrap furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap. We don't pre-measure on a site visit, so it helps to tell us the doorway and stairwell situation ahead of time. Flag any vintage or built-in pieces, along with anything heavy or awkward, when you ask for the quote so we can plan the carry-out around them.

Weekdays are quieter on the arterials, and at the campus-edge office blocks the loading spots are easier to arrange midweek than on a busy weekend. Moves here peak in summer, June through August, with the Walnut Valley Unified School District calendar and apartment lease turnover, so those dates fill faster and the best availability lands mid-week and mid-month. Up in the hillside tracts the quiet streets are easy on a weekday, but the long driveways still set the pace.
