Adept Moving is a California-licensed moving company (license MTR0190206) that has served Hermosa Beach since 1998, rated 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 reviews. Our base is 5028 Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, and Hermosa Beach moves have been part of our Los Angeles work since 1998. That's a long time, and it teaches you the quirks of a town only about a mile and a half wide that's packed tight against the sand. We've carried furniture down the walk streets. We've staged trucks off Hermosa Avenue when nothing closer was open. We've worked around summer beach crowds more times than I can count. You can't move Hermosa on autopilot. The Strand gives you no curb to back a truck up to, the older cottages have narrow stairs, and parking near the Pier gets tight in a hurry. Our rate starts at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, with regular cargo insurance built in and no fuel surcharge added on. We hold a California household goods license (MTR0190206) and a BBB A+ rating. After 25-plus years out here, I know what a Hermosa Beach move actually takes.

Serving Hermosa Beach from North Hollywood

We're a North Hollywood moving company, and Hermosa Beach is a regular run for us. From our base at 5028 Vineland Avenue we cover the whole South Bay, from the Sand Section and the walk streets down to the Hill section east of PCH. The hourly rate stays the same and so does the insured, licensed crew, whether it's a beach cottage near the Pier or an office on Pier Avenue.

What we know about moving in Hermosa Beach

Who lives here and who's moving in

So who lives in Hermosa Beach, and who's moving there? Plenty of young professionals and couples chasing the beach-town life. Families who want the Hermosa Beach City School District for their kids. Longtime owners who've held onto Strand and walk-street homes for decades. We do a lot of those moves. We help families coming in from Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach who want to land in the right school zone before the year starts. We move couples trading up from a Sand Section rental into something with a view. We move empty-nesters letting go of a big Hill-section house and heading inland. The high schoolers here feed into Mira Costa or Redondo Union, so a lot of family moves get timed to the school calendar, and we plan around that.

The layout makes every move different

Hermosa breaks into a few zones, and each one moves its own way. The Sand Section sits west of Valley Drive, right up against the ocean, and that's where the walk streets and The Strand are. Hermosa Valley runs between PCH and Ardmore, with bigger lots and easier truck access backing onto the Greenbelt. The Hill section, or East Hermosa, sits east of PCH and is friendlier to a truck, with driveways and garages. Downtown and Pier Avenue are the commercial heart, restaurants and shops running down to Pier Plaza. Hermosa Avenue, PCH, Aviation, and Artesia are the main arteries we use to get crews and trucks in and out. Where your place falls on that map decides almost everything: where we can legally stage the truck, how far we're carrying, and which truck we bring.

Adept Moving truck on 3rd Street in Hermosa Beach, 90254

    Summer changes the whole game

From late spring through Labor Day, Hermosa fills up. A busy summer weekend can pull more than 100,000 people down to the sand, and the streets near the Pier clog right up with it. Fiesta Hermosa takes over downtown on Memorial Day weekend and again over Labor Day, and beach volleyball tournaments run through July into September around the Pier. None of that stops a move. It does change the timing, though. So we've learned to start early, stage trucks where the crowds aren't, and stay clear of the event footprint. If your move lands in peak season, we'll talk through the best day and the best start time so you're not stuck behind closed streets and packed parking.

    Why Hermosa Beach hires Adept

Licensed, insured, and doing South Bay moves since 1998.

    5.0 stars, over 2,000 reviews

We hold a 5.0 rating on Google across more than 2,000 verified reviews, plus 5.0 on Yelp from over 2,900. A record like that doesn't happen by accident. We earn it one careful move at a time.

    From $99/hr, no surprises

Our rate starts at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash. Regular cargo insurance is included, the truck fee is separate, and there's no fuel surcharge and no hidden fees. You see the numbers before move day.

    Licensed and insured

We carry a California household goods license (MTR0190206) and a BBB A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance comes standard on every job, so your things stay covered while we work.

The right truck for tight streets

Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, and on the walk streets it's the one that fits. A 26-foot truck can't reach those beachfront homes. We pick the truck that matches your access, not the other way around.

    Honest drive time

Double drive time is written into your quote ahead of time, never a surprise at the curb. It's never tied to how far our crew drives to reach you. No games.

    Here since 1998

We've been moving South Bay households and businesses for more than 25 years. The walk streets, the Strand carries, the summer crowds near the Pier: we've done all of it, and we plan around it.

    Hermosa Beach moving services

    Local Moving in Hermosa Beach

    Local Moving in Hermosa Beach

Most of our Hermosa work is local. A Sand Section rental to a place with a view. A Hill-section house to somewhere inland. A walk-street cottage across town. We bring a two-mover crew from $99/hr with regular cargo insurance included. Floors get runners, and your furniture gets wrapped in moving blankets before it moves. Sofas, sectionals, dressers, bed frames: we protect them the same careful way every time. If your home sits on a walk street or The Strand, we stage the truck at the nearest legal point and carry your things in. Long carries are normal here, so we plan for them instead of getting surprised by them.

    Commercial moves in Hermosa Beach

    Commercial moves in Hermosa Beach

We move offices, shops, and restaurants around Downtown, Pier Avenue, Hermosa Avenue, and out along the Aviation and Artesia corridors. We work around your hours so the move doesn't cost you a business day, and we coordinate with building management on freight access, dock space, and timing. A standard general-liability COI is included for commercial jobs; if your building wants custom additional-insured wording, we'll quote that separately. We handle office equipment, furniture, and the heavier specialty pieces. You give us the building's requirements and dimensions, and we coordinate the rest so your team is back up and running fast.

Packing and unpacking in Hermosa Beach

Packing and unpacking in Hermosa Beach

Want help boxing things up? We pack and unpack at our hourly rate, and packing materials and supplies are billed separately from that labor. It isn't a flat fee, and it isn't folded into the $99. We bring moving blankets, dollies, and wardrobe cartons, and we wrap the fragile things so they survive the walk-street carry and the truck. We can do a full pack of the whole house, or just the kitchen and the breakables while you handle the rest. Tell us how much you want to take on yourself, and we'll match the crew and the supplies to it.

What to know before your Hermosa Beach move

A few local details that make a Hermosa Beach move go smoother.

    Permits and beach-city parking

    Permits and beach-city parking

Hermosa Beach runs a Moving Van Permit through the city, and it reserves curb space with No Parking signs and A-frames so your truck has somewhere legal to sit. The standard moving van permit is good for one day, so plan one for each day a truck will be on the street. The city's Revenue Services handles these, and the A-frames go back to Public Works when you're done. Pulling the permit is the customer's job, but we'll tell you exactly where the truck needs to land so you reserve the right spot. Come summer, parking near the Pier and the Sand Section gets brutal, so a reserved curb is worth its weight on move day.

Commercial and Pier Avenue building access

Commercial and Pier Avenue building access

Moving a business around Downtown or Pier Avenue means working with the building first. Loading zones are limited, a lot of the older storefronts have stairs instead of freight elevators, and the streets near Pier Plaza stay busy. If your building needs a COI, has set freight hours, or limits where a truck can park, get us those rules early. A standard general-liability COI is included; custom additional-insured language gets quoted on its own. You handle the building's requirements, dimensions, and any elevator or dock reservation, and we coordinate the timing so we're not fighting lunch-rush traffic on Hermosa Avenue.

The walk streets and The Strand

The walk streets and The Strand

This is the one that defines a Hermosa move. Many homes on the walk streets and The Strand have no vehicle access at all. There's no curb out front to back a truck up to, and the Strand itself is a pedestrian path with an 8-mph limit and a posted walk zone between 11th and 14th. So we stage the truck at the nearest legal point, usually a cross street or alley, and carry your things in from there. Our 18-foot truck is the smallest we run and the one that actually fits these blocks; a 26-foot truck can't reach them. Long carries are simply normal here. We plan the route and the crew around them instead of getting caught off guard.

    Older beach cottages and apartments

    Older beach cottages and apartments

A lot of Hermosa housing is older cottages and walk-up apartments, especially through the Sand Section. That means narrow staircases, tight doorways, low ceilings, and not much room to swing a sofa or a sectional. We measure the path first and decide whether a dresser or a bed frame needs to come apart to clear a corner. Floors get runners and everything gets wrapped before it moves. If you're heading into one of the newer builds near the Pier, the access is easier, but the older stock is where the careful work happens. Tell us about the stairs and doorways ahead of time and we'll bring the right crew and gear.

Best days and times to move

Best days and times to move

Timing matters a lot in a beach town. From late spring through Labor Day, summer weekends can draw more than 100,000 people to the sand, and the streets near the Pier and the Sand Section jam up. Fiesta Hermosa shuts down parts of downtown on Memorial Day weekend and again over Labor Day, and volleyball tournaments run around the Pier through July into September. A weekday morning move usually beats all of that. If your dates are locked into peak season, we'll start early and stage the truck away from the crowds. We'll walk through the best day and start time with you when we quote it.

Max & Alex are the best movers. They showed up exactly on time and brought any supplies that you may need. They took a lot of care with all my belongings and were super helpful packing up boxes. They took apart my king bed and reassembled it perfectly. They even fixed a loose bolt leaving the bed in better condition than when they arrived. Not a scratch or a ding on anything!...

Not gonna lie after all the quotes I got I was a little skeptical with how affordable their rate was (but I was desperate to save some money haha). But they were amazing! Vladimir and Alik were my 2 men and they handled everything carefully and delicately and like they’ve been doing it forever. They’ve got it down to a science. Nothing damaged or scratched or scuffed or anything and very helpful and communicative. Will def be using them if I ever need to move here again.

After our first movers could not finish the job, I contacted Adept and they fit us in at a very busy time. Our two movers were hardworking and funny and really took care of our belongings. Their rate was much less than our first movers, who did not take great care of our things. I highly recommend Adept Movers.

Adept Moving truck on 3rd Street in Hermosa Beach, 90254

    Walk-street cottage on 3rd Street

A couple on 3rd Street in the Sand Section was moving across town, and there was no way to get a truck to the front door. We staged the 18-foot truck at the nearest legal point on the cross street and carried everything in from there. Floors got runners, the sofa and dresser got moving blankets, and we wrapped the breakables tight for the carry. The narrow walk-street layout meant a longer haul on foot, which is normal here, so we planned the crew and route around it. Everything landed without a scratch.

Adept Moving truck on 3rd Street in Hermosa Beach, 90254

    Office move on Pier Avenue

A small business off Pier Avenue needed to relocate without losing a workday, so we ran the move after hours. We coordinated with building management on the loading zone and timing, since the storefront had stairs and no freight elevator. The building wanted a COI, which we provided. We wrapped the office equipment and furniture, moved it down carefully, and had them set up at the new spot before the next morning. Working around the downtown crowds meant timing the truck right, and we did. They opened on schedule.

    Hill-section house off Hermosa Avenue

A family in the Hill section east of PCH was downsizing and moving inland, with the double drive time between their two homes written into the quote up front. This one had driveway access, which made loading easier than a walk-street job. We wrapped the furniture in moving blankets, ran runners on the floors, and took apart a bed frame and a dresser to clear a tight hallway. The three-mover crew loaded the 26-foot truck, drove it inland, and unloaded at the new place with no surprises on the bill.

    Hermosa Beach Moving FAQs

    Hermosa Beach-specific questions

It's something we do all the time in Hermosa. Many walk-street and Strand homes have no vehicle access and no curb out front, so we stage the truck at the nearest legal point, usually a cross street or alley, and carry your things in from there. Our 18-foot truck is the smallest we run and the one that fits these blocks; a 26-foot truck can't reach them. Long carries are normal here, and we plan the crew and route around them. Everything gets wrapped in blankets and bubble wrap before it moves.

Our rate starts at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, paid in cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is separate, and there's no fuel surcharge and no hidden fees. Double drive time applies and is written into your quote before move day. It's never tied to how far our crew drives to reach you. You'll get a free written quote so you can see the numbers ahead of time.

Often, yes. Hermosa Beach issues a Moving Van Permit that reserves curb space with No Parking signs and A-frames, and the standard permit covers one day, so you'll want one for each day a truck is on the street. The city's Revenue Services handles the application, and it's the customer's job to pull it. We'll tell you exactly where the truck needs to land so you reserve the right spot. Near the Pier and the Sand Section in summer, that reserved curb makes a real difference.

We can. We pack and unpack at our hourly rate, and you decide how much we handle, the whole house or just the fragile and awkward stuff. Packing materials and supplies are billed separately from the labor, so you only pay for what we actually use. It isn't a flat quote, and it isn't folded into the $99 rate. It's hands-on hourly help. We bring boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, and wardrobe cartons, and we'll wrap your furniture and lay runners to protect your floors as we go.

We don't book same-day moves. A Hermosa move takes planning, especially on the walk streets and The Strand where we have to sort out truck staging, the carry, and often a city permit ahead of time. Reach out as early as you can and we'll get you on the schedule and put together a free written quote. The more lead time we have, the better we can plan around summer crowds, beach events, and parking near the Pier.

Yes. We're licensed by the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, license number MTR0190206, and BBB-accredited with an A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance is included on every move at no extra charge. For commercial moves, a standard COI with general liability is included; custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately.

    General questions

It's hourly, starting at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is billed separately. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees. We put the hourly rate in writing before you book, so there's nothing to guess at on the day.

A clean 5.0 on Google across more than 2,000 reviews comes down to a few habits: a clear written quote before you book, uniformed and background-checked crews, regular cargo insurance on every job, and no pressure afterward. Plenty of movers chase volume. We'd rather earn the next job by referral, and the reviews are what come out of that.

For a mid-week, mid-month date, a week's notice is usually plenty. Weekends, the end of the month, and the summer stretch from June through August fill up faster, so give it two to three weeks if you can. We don't currently offer same-day moves, so it's worth getting on the calendar early either way.

Life happens. Reach out as early as you can and we'll work with you to find the next open slot that fits. The sooner you let us know, the easier it is to move the crew around.
