Adept Moving is a California-licensed moving company (license MTR0190206) that has served Monrovia since 1998, rated 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 reviews. Our yard is on Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, and a Monrovia job is a foothill run out to the San Gabriel Valley, roughly 24 to 28 miles east. We take the 134 to the I-210 Foothill Freeway, ride it east through Pasadena and Arcadia, then drop off at Myrtle Avenue into Old Town. Over the years we've loaded the Craftsman and Victorian homes in Wildrose, the steep streets around Norumbega and Canyon Boulevard, the Old Town apartments above Myrtle, and the newer Station Square units by the Metro A Line. The rate starts from $99/hr for a two-mover crew paid in cash, and regular cargo insurance comes with it. The truck fee is separate. No fuel surcharge, and nothing tacked on at the end. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. We hold an A+ BBB rating.

    Serving Monrovia from North Hollywood

Our yard sits on Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, roughly 24 to 28 miles west of Monrovia. We run the 134 to the I-210 Foothill Freeway east through Pasadena and Arcadia, then exit at Myrtle Avenue, Mountain Avenue, or Huntington Drive into the city. That covers every Monrovia neighborhood: the north foothill streets around Norumbega and Canyon, the historic Craftsman blocks of Wildrose and Old Town, the Station Square transit apartments, and the Mayflower Village tracts north of the 210.

What we know about moving in Monrovia

    Who's moving here

Most of our Monrovia work ties to the foothills, the historic core, and the transit corridor. Up in north Monrovia, around Norumbega, Canyon Boulevard, and Hillcrest, we move homeowners on steep foothill lots where access, staging, and truck size decide how the whole day goes. In Wildrose and the north-central streets, we handle Craftsman, Victorian, and Revival owners who want their original built-ins, staircases, and porches protected. Along Myrtle Avenue and over at Station Square by the Metro A Line, apartment, townhome, and condo residents deal with controlled-access entries, elevators, and building move-in rules. Out in Mayflower Village and the mid-century tracts north and east of the 210, it's single-family owners on wider, easier streets. Commercial work comes through too, from the Old Town shops and offices along South Myrtle to the south-end R&D, headquarters, and light-industrial tenants near Shamrock and California. We handle Monrovia as part of our Los Angeles moving services, running it out of North Hollywood like the rest of the San Gabriel Valley. A common one is a family moving up from an Old Town cottage to a north Monrovia hillside place, or a household heading east to Duarte or Azusa along Huntington Drive.

How the streets shape a move

The ground under Monrovia changes as you go. The north end climbs fast off the valley floor: Canyon Boulevard, Norumbega Drive, Hillcrest Boulevard, and upper Mountain Avenue run steep and narrow with tight curves, short pitched driveways, and barely enough room to swing a truck around. On streets like these a 26-foot truck often can't make the turn or the grade, so we stage where it's safe and carry up or down the slope. The 18-foot box is the smallest truck we keep, and it's the one we send when the 26-footer can't thread a foothill driveway or a tight hillside bend. Down in Old Town, South Myrtle Avenue is a compact walkable retail strip with metered, time-limited curb parking, angled and parallel spaces, sidewalk dining, and heavy pedestrian and Friday-night street-fair activity, so curb staging there is tight and best kept off-peak. The Wildrose and north-central residential streets run narrow with short single-width driveways and mature parkway trees, so trucks usually stage at the curb. Out past the 210 in Mayflower Village, the tract streets open up with wider frontage and easier access. The truck and the parking plan change block to block.

    Timing and access

A Monrovia move day runs cleaner when the access is figured out first. At the Station Square apartments and the newer buildings along Myrtle, the elevator reservation and the move-in window are yours to line up with building management, and once you do we coordinate our arrival to it. Up in the north Monrovia foothills, around Norumbega and Canyon, we plan curbside staging because the driveways run steep and the streets have no room to spare, and we ask you to walk the access before the day. In Old Town along South Myrtle, the metered, time-limited curb parking and the sidewalk crowds mean we sequence the load to work inside it, off-peak when we can. On the regional side, the I-210 Foothill Freeway is the main through-route and it backs up through Pasadena and Arcadia, while at-grade Metro A Line crossings near Duarte Road can drop the gates for a few minutes. Plenty of our Monrovia moves run a short valley hop: west to Arcadia, east to Duarte or Azusa on Huntington Drive, or northeast up to the gated hillside city of Bradbury. We time the legs around the corridor's busy stretches to keep the drive between your two locations short, and starting mid-morning usually keeps the hourly total from creeping up. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. We go over that before you book.

    Why Monrovia picks Adept

Licensed since 1998, with a rate that's plain to read and a crew that knows San Gabriel Valley foothills and historic homes.

    5.0 with over 2,000 reviews

We hold a 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 verified reviews. That record is what we'd point a new Monrovia customer to first, and it's held up across thousands of local moves.

    From $99/hr, two movers

Our rate is $99 per hour for a two-mover crew, cash. Regular cargo insurance is included, the truck fee's separate, and there's no fuel surcharge.

    No hidden fees

What's in the written quote is what you pay. No surprise add-ons at the curb, and double drive time is advised on the moving quote up front.

    Licensed and insured

We're California-licensed, MTR0190206, with an A+ rating at the BBB. The paperwork's real, and we're glad to show it.

The right truck for the foothills

Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, made for steep foothill driveways and narrow winding hillside streets. The 26-foot is our standard for bigger loads.

    Local since 1998

We've worked out of North Hollywood since 1998, a 24-to-28-mile run east to Monrovia. Old Town, the foothill streets, and the Station Square corridor aren't new to us.

    What we move in Monrovia

    Local Moving in Monrovia

    Local Moving in Monrovia

House, condo, townhome, or apartment, we handle Monrovia local moves from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, with regular cargo insurance included. We wrap furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap, lay floor runners on your floors, and bring dollies and wardrobe cartons. If you've got an upright or baby grand piano, a gun safe, fine art, antiques, or a home gym, tell us up front so we plan for it. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote.

    Commercial moves in Monrovia

    Commercial moves in Monrovia

We move shops, restaurants, and offices along South Myrtle Avenue in Old Town, plus the R&D, headquarters, and light-industrial tenants in the south end near Shamrock and California. That's desks, files, display fixtures, and office equipment, worked at our hourly rate with a two-mover crew. For buildings that ask for a certificate of insurance, a standard general-liability COI is included for commercial jobs, and if you need custom additional-insured wording, we quote that separately. Old Town curb parking is metered and time-limited, and the south-end buildings run on loading docks, so you handle the building access rules and we coordinate the timing and sequence the load so your move lands in its window.

    Packing and unpacking in Monrovia

    Packing and unpacking in Monrovia

If you want a hand with the boxes, our crew packs and unpacks at the hourly rate, and disposable packing materials and supplies are billed separately, not folded into the $99. We bring moving blankets, bubble wrap, dollies, and wardrobe cartons, and we can do a full pack or just the kitchen and the breakables while you handle the rest. Packing labor is billed at the same hourly crew time as the move, not a separate flat quote. Tell us how much you want done and we'll give you a realistic read in the written quote, so the day doesn't run long on surprises.

What to know before you move in Monrovia

A few local details that keep move day smooth, from permits to foothill access.

    Permits and street rules

    Permits and street rules

On many Monrovia blocks, parking the truck at the curb is straightforward, but in Old Town along South Myrtle Avenue, where the curb is metered, time-limited, and busy with sidewalk dining and Friday-night street-fair crowds, a reserved curb space can save a long carry. The City of Monrovia Public Works Department issues encroachment permits for work and obstructions in the public right-of-way, and you can reach the department at 626-932-5575 or pwcomments@monroviaca.gov to ask what applies to a moving truck on your block. The permit counter runs by appointment, so give it time. Whether the city wants a dedicated permit for moving-truck curb staging, as opposed to a general encroachment permit for occupying the right-of-way, is worth confirming with Public Works directly, since the rules can vary block to block and the processing window wasn't something we could pin down. If your street is narrow, metered, or in the Old Town core, we'd call the city before move day, because a posted no-parking spot in front of the door changes the whole rhythm of the load. Pulling that permit and posting it falls to you, but we'll point out exactly where the truck has to sit. Anything oversize on the I-210 Foothill Freeway itself falls under Caltrans, which is a different matter from a city curb permit.

    Downtown and building access

    Downtown and building access

Building access in Monrovia splits a few ways: the Old Town retail core, the newer transit apartments, and the south-end commercial buildings. Along South Myrtle Avenue, shops, restaurants, and upper-floor offices sit in vintage brick buildings built right to the sidewalk, with metered, time-limited curb parking and heavy pedestrian traffic, so a move there means working within short metered windows and around the crowds. Over at Station Square, by the Metro A Line station at Duarte Road and Myrtle, the newer apartment and townhome buildings run on controlled-access entries, elevators, and structured or subterranean parking, with building move-in rules and scheduling. The elevator reservation and the loading window are yours to arrange with building management, not ours to book, and once you've set them we coordinate our arrival to fit. Down in the south end along Shamrock and California, the industrial and headquarters buildings work off loading docks and freight elevators, so you schedule the dock and we plan the crew start around it. If a building or association asks for a certificate of insurance, a standard general-liability COI is included for commercial jobs, and custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately. Tell us the building rules when you ask for your quote, and we'll plan the start so the move fits the access window.

    Hillside and canyon access

    Hillside and canyon access

North Monrovia rises fast into the San Gabriel foothills, and that's where our planning matters most. Canyon Boulevard, Norumbega Drive, Hillcrest Boulevard, and upper Mountain Avenue climb toward Monrovia Canyon Park and the Hillside Wilderness Preserve on steep, narrow, winding streets with sharp grades, tight curves, short pitched driveways, and very little room to turn a long truck around. On nearly all of it, a 26-foot truck can't make the grade or the turn, so we send our 18-foot box truck, the smallest we run, and stage at the nearest safe pull-out when the driveway is too steep or too long to reach the door. We don't shuttle loads with a smaller vehicle or commit to driving any given grade, which is exactly why a walkthrough beforehand counts for so much up here. We ask you to walk the access yourself before move day and tell us what the crew is dealing with: the carry distance, the driveway pitch, the stair runs, and whether a long truck can even turn around at the top. Bradbury, the gated hillside city, sits just to the northeast, and those private roads work the same way. Mention the grade and the carry when you request a quote, and we'll size the truck and the crew to the hill.

    Historic Craftsman and Victorian homes

    Historic Craftsman and Victorian homes

Housing in Monrovia runs old and detailed, and that shapes the carry. Wildrose and the north-central blocks hold a dense run of early-1900s Craftsman bungalows, 1920s and 1930s Spanish Revival and Tudor cottages, and the odd Victorian, most of them on narrow lots with short single-width driveways, detached rear garages, and old parkway trees crowding the curb. Original porches, wood staircases, and built-in millwork come with the territory, and every bit of it needs padding. Getting a wide sofa or sectional out of one of these houses can mean angling it just so, or popping a door off its hinges, or breaking down a bed frame to clear an opening that was never cut for modern furniture. A mattress won't fold, so that one rides flat and the box spring goes through cornerwise. Before anything leaves, the crew pads the stair rails and the cabinetry, rolls floor runners down the halls, and blankets and bubble-wraps the furniture. Some of these homes sit on Monrovia's local landmark list and carry design-review status, but that paperwork is the owner's to handle and changes nothing about how we protect and haul. Since we don't measure on a site visit beforehand, tell us about the tight doorways, the stairwell, and any vintage or built-in pieces when you ask for the quote.

    Best days and times

    Best days and times

Monrovia traffic keys off the I-210 Foothill Freeway, the main regional route through town, which backs up through the Pasadena and Arcadia stretch of the corridor. Local circulation piles onto South Myrtle Avenue in Old Town, busiest during the Friday-night street fair and weekend retail and dining hours, while the at-grade Metro A Line crossings near Duarte Road can drop the gates and stall traffic for a few minutes at a time. Weekend recreation traffic heads north toward Monrovia Canyon Park and the foothill trailheads, so the hillside streets see more cars on Saturdays and Sundays. A mid-morning start, after the early commute clears the 210, usually keeps the drive short and the hours from stacking up. Weekdays run quieter in Old Town and around the Station Square buildings, where elevator and loading coordination goes smoother midweek than on a packed weekend. Moves here peak in summer, June through August, with the Monrovia Unified School District calendar and apartment lease turnover along the Myrtle and Station Square corridors, so those dates fill faster and the best availability lands mid-week and mid-month. We'll settle the timing while we're putting your written quote together, so the start lines up with your access.

Max & Alex are the best movers. They showed up exactly on time and brought any supplies that you may need. They took a lot of care with all my belongings and were super helpful packing up boxes. They took apart my king bed and reassembled it perfectly. They even fixed a loose bolt leaving the bed in better condition than when they arrived. Not a scratch or a ding on anything!...

Not gonna lie after all the quotes I got I was a little skeptical with how affordable their rate was (but I was desperate to save some money haha). But they were amazing! Vladimir and Alik were my 2 men and they handled everything carefully and delicately and like they’ve been doing it forever. They’ve got it down to a science. Nothing damaged or scratched or scuffed or anything and very helpful and communicative. Will def be using them if I ever need to move here again.

After our first movers could not finish the job, I contacted Adept and they fit us in at a very busy time. Our two movers were hardworking and funny and really took care of our belongings. Their rate was much less than our first movers, who did not take great care of our things. I highly recommend Adept Movers.

    North Monrovia hillside home, 91016

A whole-home move out of a two-story foothill residence on a steep lot near Norumbega and Canyon, 91016, reached by a narrow winding street. After a pre-move walkthrough, the crew planned the approach and turnaround, staged the 18-foot box truck at the nearest safe pull-out, and hand-carried furniture down from the upper levels and a sloped driveway, padding tight stair runs along the way. They wrapped the furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap, laid floor runners through the entry, and took the heavier pieces slow on the grade. Because the owner had walked the route with us beforehand, the crew knew the carry and the pitch before the truck pulled up. Two movers, billed hourly, with cargo insurance already in the rate.

    Wildrose Craftsman home, 91016

This one was out of an early-1900s Craftsman home in the Wildrose area, 91016, with original built-ins, a wood staircase, and a period front porch. The lot was narrow, so the crew staged at the curb and worked the load out through tight original doorways. They padded the doorways, railings, and floors, laid floor runners, and disassembled and wrapped the larger pieces, taking a door off the hinges where a wide sofa wouldn't clear otherwise. Everything got moving blankets and bubble wrap before it went out. Because the home carried historic status, the crew kept the porch and exterior finishes protected throughout. Two movers, hourly, cargo insurance included.

Old Town Myrtle Avenue shop, 91016

A small ground-floor retail shop relocating along South Myrtle Avenue in Old Town, 91016, needed its space shifted nearby. We moved packed inventory, display fixtures, and the office equipment, all at our hourly rate with a two-mover crew. Curb frontage in Old Town was metered and time-limited with steady pedestrian traffic and sidewalk dining, so we sequenced the load to work within the short curb window and coordinated an off-peak start to stay clear of the crowds. The two spaces were only a short hop apart. The new building asked for a certificate of insurance, and the standard general-liability COI we include for commercial jobs covered it. They were back open before the day got away from them.

    Monrovia Moving FAQs

    Monrovia-specific questions

Our rate starts from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, paid in cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is separate, and there's no fuel surcharge or hidden fees. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. We put the whole estimate in writing so you know what to expect.

We don't currently offer same-day moves. A good Monrovia move takes planning, the right truck for a steep foothill street or an Old Town curb window, and a crew scheduled ahead, and we'd rather plan it right than jam it into a same-day slot. Reach out as early as you can and we'll get you a written quote and a date that works. Even a few days' notice helps us send the right truck for a Norumbega driveway or a Station Square elevator window.

On most Monrovia blocks, no, but in Old Town along South Myrtle Avenue, where curb space is metered and time-limited, a reserved spot saves a long carry. The City of Monrovia Public Works Department handles encroachment permits for the public right-of-way, and you can reach them at 626-932-5575 to ask what applies. Pulling the permit and posting it is your job, but we'll tell you where we need the truck to sit so you can request the right spot.

It depends on your load and your access. Our 26-foot truck is the standard for bigger moves. Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, and it's the one we send for the steep driveways, tight curves, and narrow winding streets in north Monrovia around Norumbega, Canyon, and Hillcrest, where a 26-foot truck can't make the grade or the turn. Tell us your address and how much you're moving, and we'll size the truck before move day.

Yes. Our crew packs and unpacks at the hourly rate, and disposable packing materials and supplies are billed separately, not included in the $99. We bring boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, and wardrobe cartons. We also handle specialty pieces like upright and baby grand pianos, gun safes, fine art, antiques, and home gyms, so let us know up front and we'll plan the crew and equipment around them.

Yes. We're licensed by the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, license number MTR0190206, and BBB-accredited with an A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance is included on every move at no extra charge. For commercial moves, a standard COI with general liability is included; custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately.

    General questions

It's hourly, starting at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is billed separately. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees. We put the hourly rate in writing before you book, so there's nothing to guess at on the day.

A clean 5.0 on Google across more than 2,000 reviews comes down to a few habits: a clear written quote before you book, uniformed and background-checked crews, regular cargo insurance on every job, and no pressure afterward. Plenty of movers chase volume. We'd rather earn the next job by referral, and the reviews are what come out of that.

For a mid-week, mid-month date, a week's notice is usually plenty. Weekends, the end of the month, and the summer stretch from June through August fill up faster, so give it two to three weeks if you can. We don't currently offer same-day moves, so it's worth getting on the calendar early either way.

Life happens. Reach out as early as you can and we'll work with you to find the next open slot that fits. The sooner you let us know, the easier it is to move the crew around.
