Adept Moving is a California-licensed moving company (license MTR0190206) that has served Pomona since 1998, rated 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 reviews. Our yard sits on Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, and Pomona is an eastern Los Angeles County haul, roughly 35 to 40 miles out in the Pomona Valley, so we run the 134 to the I-210, drop south on SR-57, and take the I-10 east into town, or swing the SR-60 when it moves better. We've loaded out of the Victorian and Craftsman homes in the Lincoln Park and Wilton Heights historic districts, the hillside streets of Phillips Ranch and Ganesha Hills, the student rentals near Cal Poly Pomona, and the lofts along Antique Row downtown. Our rate starts from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, and regular cargo insurance is in there. The truck fee's separate, with no fuel surcharge and no hidden fees. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. We carry an A+ BBB rating.

What we know about moving in Pomona

    Who's moving here

Most of our Pomona work splits between the historic flatland districts and the hillside neighborhoods. In Lincoln Park and Wilton Heights, we move owners of Victorian and Craftsman homes on narrow older streets, where curb-only staging, period interiors, and original staircases set the pace of the day. Up in Phillips Ranch and the Ganesha Hills area, we handle move-up and hillside homeowners with multilevel houses on curving, graded streets, often under HOA or gated-community rules. Near Cal Poly Pomona and Western University of Health Sciences, we move apartment and student-housing residents through controlled-access buildings on the academic calendar. Commercial work comes through downtown, from the retail tenants, Arts Colony lofts, and small offices along the Holt Avenue, Garey Avenue, and Mission Boulevard corridors. We run Pomona as part of our Los Angeles moving services, out of North Hollywood like the rest of the eastern county. A lot of these are short hops within the Pomona Valley: a family moving up from a Lincoln Park bungalow to a Phillips Ranch hillside home, or a household heading north to Claremont or La Verne on Garey Avenue.

How the streets shape a move

Pomona covers a couple of very different kinds of ground. The central and southern flats hold older tract grids and the historic districts, where streets like those in Lincoln Park run narrow and tightly platted between Garey and Towne Avenues, with short or no driveways and mature trees hanging over the curb. The west and north edges climb: Phillips Ranch in the southwestern corner sits on curving hillside streets and cul-de-sacs, and the Ganesha Hills area near Ganesha Park runs sloped and winding with tight curb frontage. On the hills a 26-foot truck often can't hold the grade or make the turn, so we stage where it's safe and carry to the door, and our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run for exactly those streets. Downtown is its own animal: Second Street, the Arts Colony, and the Holt and Garey corridors carry metered, time-limited curb parking, one-way segments, and pedestrian traffic. Around the Fairplex, event weekends bring closures near McKinley and White Avenues. The truck and the parking plan change from one neighborhood to the next.

    Timing and access

Move day in Pomona runs smoother when access is lined up ahead. In Phillips Ranch and the condominium communities, the HOA and gate want visitor or move access arranged in advance, and the private lanes set where a truck can sit, so we coordinate our arrival once you set it. In Lincoln Park and Wilton Heights, we plan curbside staging because the driveways are short and the streets have no room to spare, and we ask you to walk the access before the day. Downtown along Second Street and the Holt and Garey corridors, the metered, time-limited curb parking means we sequence the load to work inside it. On the freeway side, the I-10, SR-60, and SR-57 all funnel through the Kellogg Interchange, which backs up hard at commute hours, and Fairplex event season adds closures near the fairgrounds. Plenty of our Pomona moves run a short valley hop: north to Claremont and La Verne on Indian Hill Boulevard, or east to Montclair and Chino on Holt Avenue. We time the legs around the interchange to keep the drive between your two locations short. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote, and we talk it through up front.

    Why Pomona picks Adept

Licensed since 1998, with a rate that's plain to read and a crew that knows the valley's historic streets and hillsides.

    5.0 with over 2,000 reviews

We hold a 5.0 rating on Google across over 2,000 verified reviews. That record is what we'd point a new Pomona customer to first, and it's held up across every kind of move in the valley.

    From $99/hr, two movers

Our rate is $99 per hour for a two-mover crew, cash. Regular cargo insurance is included, the truck fee is separate, and there's no fuel surcharge.

    No hidden fees

What's written in the moving quote is what you pay. No surprise add-ons at the curb, and double drive time is advised on the quote up front.

    Licensed and insured

We're California-licensed, MTR0190206, with an A+ rating at the BBB. The paperwork is real, and we're glad to show it.

The right truck for the hill

Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, made for the curving hillside streets of Phillips Ranch and Ganesha Hills. The 26-foot is our standard for bigger loads.

    Local since 1998

We've worked out of North Hollywood since 1998, a 35-to-40-mile haul east to Pomona. The historic districts, hillsides, and downtown lofts aren't new to us.

    What we move in Pomona

    Local Moving in Pomona

    Local Moving in Pomona

House, cottage, condo, or apartment, we handle Pomona local moves from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, with regular cargo insurance included. We wrap furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap, lay floor runners on your floors, and bring dollies and wardrobe cartons. If you've got an upright or baby grand piano, a gun safe, fine art, antiques, or a home gym, tell us up front so we plan for it. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote.

    Commercial moves in Pomona

    Commercial moves in Pomona

We move retail tenants, galleries, Arts Colony lofts, and small offices along the Holt Avenue, Garey Avenue, and Mission Boulevard corridors. That's desks, files, display fixtures, and office equipment, worked at our hourly rate with a two-mover crew. For buildings that ask for a certificate of insurance, a standard general-liability COI is included for commercial jobs, and if you need custom additional-insured wording, we quote that separately. Downtown curb parking is metered and time-limited, so you handle the building access rules and we coordinate the timing and sequence the load so your move lands in its window.

    Packing and unpacking in Pomona

    Packing and unpacking in Pomona

Need a hand boxing up? Our crew packs and unpacks at the hourly rate, and disposable packing materials and supplies are billed separately, not folded into the $99. We bring moving blankets, bubble wrap, dollies, and wardrobe cartons, and we can do a full pack or just the kitchen and the breakables while you handle the rest. Packing labor is billed at the same hourly crew time as the move, not a separate flat quote. Tell us how much you want done and we'll give you a realistic read in the moving quote.

What to know before you move in Pomona

A few local details that keep move day smooth, from permits to hillside access.

    Permits and street rules

    Permits and street rules

Parking a truck at the curb is straightforward on most Pomona residential streets, but in the older historic grids and downtown it pays to check ahead. In Lincoln Park and Wilton Heights, streets run narrow with short or no driveways, so the truck usually stages at the curb, and a reserved spot in front of the door can save a long carry past the mature street trees. Downtown along Second Street, the Arts Colony, and the Holt and Garey Avenue corridors, curb parking is metered and time-limited, with one-way segments and pedestrian activity. The City of Pomona Public Works Department, Engineering Division, at 505 S. Garey Avenue, issues encroachment and street-use permits for the public right-of-way, and it's worth confirming with them whether moving-truck curb staging needs a dedicated permit or falls under a general encroachment permit, since we weren't able to pin down the exact processing window. Pulling and posting any permit is the property owner's job, not ours, but we'll tell you exactly where the truck needs to sit so you can request the right spot. Oversize truck movement on the state highways, the I-10, SR-60, SR-57, and SR-71, is handled by Caltrans, separate from a city curb permit. Call us at (800) 307-1302 and we'll walk through your block before move day.

    Downtown and building access

    Downtown and building access

Pomona building access falls into a few patterns. Downtown, the Arts Colony holds live/work artist lofts and galleries in older commercial buildings dating to the 1890s, many with upper-floor units reached by interior stairs, and Antique Row along Second Street runs metered, time-limited curb frontage with Art Walk and street-faire crowds on Second Saturdays. A move there means working within short curb windows and carrying up and down stairwells, so we sequence the load to fit the parking. Near Cal Poly Pomona and Western University of Health Sciences, apartments and student rentals tend to have controlled-access entries, limited on-site parking, and shared corridors, and management coordination matters most during the academic move-in rush. In Phillips Ranch, the 1980s condominium communities like Country Park Villas add gated or controlled entry and shared stairwells that you arrange with the HOA or management ahead of time. Once you've set the access window and cleared any gate or elevator reservation with the building, we coordinate our arrival to it, pad the entry, protect shared walkways and finishes, and run the load on dollies. If a building or association asks for a certificate of insurance, a standard general-liability COI is included for commercial jobs, and custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately. Tell us the building rules when you ask for your quote.

    Hillside and canyon access

    Hillside and canyon access

The west and north edges of Pomona rise into hills, and that's where staging takes the most planning. Phillips Ranch, the master-planned community in the southwestern corner, runs on curving streets, cul-de-sacs, and graded lots, with multilevel homes that mean longer carries from the truck to the door. The Ganesha Hills area near Ganesha Park sits on sloped, foothill-adjacent terrain with winding approaches, driveway grades, and limited curb frontage. On streets like these a 26-foot truck often can't make the turn or hold the grade, so we bring our 18-foot box truck, the smallest we run, and stage at the nearest safe pull-out when the driveway is too steep or too tight to reach the entry. We don't run a shuttle service or promise to drive any particular grade, so a pre-move walkthrough matters more here than anywhere. We ask you to walk the access yourself before move day and tell us what the crew is facing: the carry distance, the driveway pitch, the interior and exterior stair runs, and whether a long truck can turn around at the top. Phillips Ranch also carries HOA move rules, so check those and pass them along. Flag the grade and the carry when you ask for your quote, and we'll size the truck and crew for the hill.

    Historic Victorian and Craftsman homes

    Historic Victorian and Craftsman homes

Pomona's historic districts change how the carry goes. Lincoln Park, a roughly 230-acre district of about 821 structures built from the 1890s through the 1940s, holds late Victorian, National Folk, Craftsman, and early Revival homes on a tight older grid between Garey and Towne Avenues. Wilton Heights, just north and west and bisected by the I-10, runs large Craftsman houses and bungalows from the 1880s to 1945. These are older two-story homes with narrow doorways, period staircases, and built-in millwork, on streets with short or no driveways and mature trees at the curb. A wide sofa or sectional sometimes takes a careful angle, and other times we take a door off the hinges or break down a bed frame to clear it. A mattress doesn't come apart, so we carry it flat and ease a box spring through on the diagonal. We pad the staircases and the built-in cabinetry on the way out, lay floor runners on original wood floors, and wrap furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap. Some homes carry historic status through the city's preservation program, but that's a paperwork matter for the owner and doesn't change how we wrap and carry. We don't pre-measure on a site visit, so tell us the doorway and stairwell situation, along with any vintage or built-in pieces, when you ask for the quote.

    Best days and times

    Best days and times

Pomona traffic keys off the freeway convergence, and the I-10, SR-57, and SR-71 Kellogg Interchange near the San Dimas line is the main regional chokepoint, with the I-10 and SR-60 carrying heavy east-west commuter flow. Downtown circulation runs on Holt and Garey Avenues with metered curb parking and Metrolink and Amtrak crossings near the Pomona station. Around the Fairplex, the L.A. County Fair and the Pomona Swap Meet spike local traffic and bring road closures near McKinley and White Avenues, so it's worth checking the event calendar before you set a date on that side of town. A mid-morning start, after the early commute clears, usually keeps the drive between your two locations short and the hourly clock honest. Weekdays run quieter downtown and go smoother for gate and HOA coordination in Phillips Ranch than a packed Saturday. Moves peak in summer, June through August, on the Pomona Unified School District calendar and apartment lease turnover, with a second surge in late August and September as Cal Poly Pomona and Western University students move into campus-area housing. Those dates fill faster, so the best availability lands mid-week and mid-month. We'll talk timing through when we put your moving quote together, so the start matches your access.

Max & Alex are the best movers. They showed up exactly on time and brought any supplies that you may need. They took a lot of care with all my belongings and were super helpful packing up boxes. They took apart my king bed and reassembled it perfectly. They even fixed a loose bolt leaving the bed in better condition than when they arrived. Not a scratch or a ding on anything!...

Not gonna lie after all the quotes I got I was a little skeptical with how affordable their rate was (but I was desperate to save some money haha). But they were amazing! Vladimir and Alik were my 2 men and they handled everything carefully and delicately and like they’ve been doing it forever. They’ve got it down to a science. Nothing damaged or scratched or scuffed or anything and very helpful and communicative. Will def be using them if I ever need to move here again.

After our first movers could not finish the job, I contacted Adept and they fit us in at a very busy time. Our two movers were hardworking and funny and really took care of our belongings. Their rate was much less than our first movers, who did not take great care of our things. I highly recommend Adept Movers.

    Lincoln Park Craftsman home, 91767

A whole-home move out of an early-1900s Craftsman on a narrow Lincoln Park street, 91767, with no usable driveway. The crew staged at the curb under mature street trees, padded the original wood floors, banisters, and built-ins, and hand-carried the larger pieces down a period staircase. They wrapped furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap and laid floor runners through the entry, taking the heavy pieces slow on the tight interior stairs. A two-mover crew, hourly, with regular cargo insurance already included.

    Lincoln Park, 91767

    Phillips Ranch hillside home, 91766

A relocation from a multilevel home on a curving Phillips Ranch hillside street, 91766, inside an HOA subdivision. The crew reviewed the HOA move guidelines and community access ahead of time, positioned the truck on a graded curb, and padded the stair runs while carrying furniture down from the upper floors. They protected finishes and shared walkways and kept the load moving on dollies. The owner had walked the access with us first, so the crew knew the carry distance and the grade before they arrived. A two-mover crew, hourly, with the cargo insurance included.

    Phillips Ranch, 91766

    Downtown Arts Colony loft, 91766

An upper-floor live/work loft along Second Street in the downtown Arts Colony, 91766, moving to a nearby space. Metered, time-limited curb frontage and Art Walk pedestrian activity meant a tight staging window, so the crew sequenced the load to work inside it and used the interior stairs for the upper-floor unit. We wrapped the furniture and artwork in moving blankets and bubble wrap and carried the office equipment down in sequence. The two spaces sat close together, a short drive between them, so the move wrapped without losing much of the day.

Our rate starts from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, paid in cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is separate, and there's no fuel surcharge or hidden fees. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. We put the whole estimate in writing so you know what to expect before move day.

We don't currently offer same-day moves. A good Pomona move takes planning, the right truck for a narrow Lincoln Park street or a Phillips Ranch hillside driveway, and a crew scheduled ahead, so we'd rather set it up properly than rush it. Reach out as early as you can and we'll get you a written quote and a date that works. Even a few days' notice helps us send the right truck and coordinate any HOA or gate access.

On most Pomona residential blocks, no, but downtown along Second Street and the Holt and Garey corridors, where curb space is metered and time-limited, a reserved spot can save a long carry. The City of Pomona Public Works Department, Engineering Division, at 505 S. Garey Avenue, handles encroachment and street-use permits for the public right-of-way, and it's worth confirming with them what applies to a moving truck on your block. Pulling and posting the permit is the owner's job, but we'll tell you where we need the truck to sit.

It depends on your load and your access. Our 26-foot truck is the standard for bigger moves. Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, and it's the one we send for the curving hillside streets of Phillips Ranch and Ganesha Hills, and for the narrow historic streets in Lincoln Park and Wilton Heights where a 26-foot truck can't make the turn. Tell us your address and how much you're moving, and we'll size the truck before move day.

Yes. Our crew packs and unpacks at the hourly rate, and disposable packing materials and supplies are billed separately, not included in the $99. We bring boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, and wardrobe cartons. We also handle specialty pieces like upright and baby grand pianos, gun safes, fine art, antiques, and home gyms, so let us know up front and we'll plan the crew and equipment around them.

Yes. We're licensed by the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, license number MTR0190206, and BBB-accredited with an A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance is included on every move at no extra charge. For commercial moves, a standard COI with general liability is included; custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately.

    General questions

It's hourly, starting at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is billed separately. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees. We put the hourly rate in writing before you book, so there's nothing to guess at on the day.

A clean 5.0 on Google across more than 2,000 reviews comes down to a few habits: a clear written quote before you book, uniformed and background-checked crews, regular cargo insurance on every job, and no pressure afterward. Plenty of movers chase volume. We'd rather earn the next job by referral, and the reviews are what come out of that.

For a mid-week, mid-month date, a week's notice is usually plenty. Weekends, the end of the month, and the summer stretch from June through August fill up faster, so give it two to three weeks if you can. We don't currently offer same-day moves, so it's worth getting on the calendar early either way.

Life happens. Reach out as early as you can and we'll work with you to find the next open slot that fits. The sooner you let us know, the easier it is to move the crew around.
