Older and view homes

Peninsula housing runs from established mid-century tracts to large custom view homes, and each kind moves a little differently. Many of the view homes are multi-level, built into the slope with exterior steps, split landings, and rooms that open onto the downhill side, so a wide sofa or sectional sometimes takes a careful angle, a slow turn on the stairs, or a door off the hinges. The older tracts near Eastview and around Los Verdes have narrower doorways, tighter stairwells, and smaller driveways than a newer build. A bed frame or a sectional may need to come apart to clear a tight stairwell, while a mattress goes as is and a box spring rides out on its side or diagonally.
