Adept Moving is a California-licensed moving company (license MTR0190206) that has served Riverside since 1998, rated 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 reviews. We're based at 5028 Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, and Riverside moves have been part of our Los Angeles work since 1998. The Inland Empire has always been on our map. We've walked Craftsman furniture out of the Wood Streets, loaded trucks on the hills above Canyon Crest, and gotten UC Riverside families settled before fall quarter starts. Riverside isn't around the corner from us. That's fine. The drive our crew makes to reach you is never something you pay for. Over the years we've gotten to know how this city moves: the narrow older streets near downtown, the gated tracts out in Orangecrest, the summer heat that makes an early start worth it. Two movers, a $99 hourly rate, and a written quote you read before anyone shows up. That's how we've run it for more than twenty-five years, and it's how we still run Riverside jobs today.

    Serving Riverside from North Hollywood

We move households and businesses all over Riverside. From the historic Wood Streets and downtown near the Mission Inn out to Canyon Crest, La Sierra, Orangecrest, and the hillside lots in Hawarden Hills. Crossing town or heading to a nearby Inland Empire city, you get the same two-mover crew and the same $99 hourly rate.

What we know about moving in Riverside

Older streets downtown, newer tracts out east

Riverside isn't one kind of move. Downtown and the Wood Streets near the Mission Inn are full of homes from the teens and twenties: narrow driveways, mature trees, tight curbside parking. That's where our 18-foot box truck earns its keep. It's the smallest truck we run, and the one that actually fits where a 26-foot can't. Head southeast toward Orangecrest and Mission Grove and the whole picture flips. Master-planned tracts off Van Buren and Trautwein, wide streets, homeowner associations with their own gate and access rules. Canyon Crest sits on the hill near UC Riverside, with winding roads and plenty of student and faculty turnover. Hawarden Hills is a quieter pocket of estate lots, and the grades there change how we park and stage. Knowing which Riverside you're moving in changes how we plan the day.

    Who's moving here, and when

So who lives in Riverside, and who's moving there? Most of it ties back to work and school. UC Riverside, Riverside Unified, the county and civic offices, the hospitals, and the warehouse and logistics employers out toward the freeways all pull people in and out of the city. We do a lot of those moves. The UCR calendar drives a real season too: fall quarter starts in late September, and families want to be settled before classes begin. Summer is the busy stretch, and summer in Riverside means heat. We'd rather load your truck in the cooler part of the morning than fight triple digits by afternoon, so we'll often suggest an early start. With the 91, the 60, and the 215 meeting right here, timing your move around traffic and temperature is half the job. It's the part we think about before you do.

What you handle, what we coordinate

A few things on a Riverside move are yours to set up, and we'll work around whatever you arrange. If you need a temporary no-parking spot for the truck on a tight downtown street, the permit comes from the City of Riverside, and their traffic engineering line is (951) 826-5366. Elevator reservations in a downtown building, gate or HOA clearance out in Orangecrest or Victoria Grove, any certificate of insurance your building requires, the dimensions of doorways or tricky furniture: those are all yours. We coordinate with you on every bit of it. Tell us what your building or association needs and when, and we'll plan the crew, the truck, and the route to match. The more we know up front about access, the smoother move day runs.

    Why Riverside hires us

Licensed, insured, and rated 5.0 by more Riverside-area customers than we can fit on this page.

    5.0 across over 2,000 reviews

We hold a 5.0 rating on Google across over 2,000 verified reviews, plus 5.0 on Yelp from 2,900-plus. That's the number we're proudest of, and we earned it one move at a time.

    Honest hourly pricing

It's from $99/hr for cash, with a two-mover crew and regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is separate. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees, and you read it all in writing first.

    Licensed and insured

We're a California-licensed mover, CA BHGS MTR0190206, with a BBB A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance comes standard on every job, household or commercial.

The crew's drive is never charged

Riverside sits a fair way from our North Hollywood base. That's our problem, not yours. You never pay for how far our crew drives to reach you. We put that promise in writing.

    Here since 1998

We've been moving California households and businesses since 1998, Riverside included. More than twenty-five years of older downtown streets, hillside lots, and gated tracts means few surprises on your move day.

A written quote before move day

You get a free written quote before anyone shows up. Double drive time is spelled out in that quote ahead of time, never sprung on you when the truck arrives.

    What we move in Riverside

    Local Moving in Riverside

    Local Moving in Riverside

Most of our Riverside work is local, whether you're moving a few blocks inside the Wood Streets or across town to Orangecrest. You get a two-mover crew from $99/hr, with moving blankets, dollies, and wardrobe cartons on the truck. We wrap furniture in moving blankets and lay runners to protect your floors. Double drive time applies on the drive between your old and new place, and you read it in the written quote before move day. The drive our crew makes to get to Riverside is never charged to you, full stop.

    Commercial moves in Riverside

    Commercial moves in Riverside

We move offices, suites, and storefronts around downtown Riverside, the University Avenue corridor, and the business parks near the freeways. Office equipment, desks, files, and furniture get the same careful wrapping as a home. A standard general-liability certificate of insurance is included for commercial jobs. If your building needs custom additional-insured wording, we'll quote that separately. Tell us about loading docks, freight elevators, and after-hours building rules, and we'll plan the crew and timing around them. We coordinate with your property manager so the move fits your downtime, not the other way around. Most local commercial moves run on the same $99 hourly rate.

    Packing and unpacking in Riverside

    Packing and unpacking in Riverside

We can pack the whole house, or just the kitchen and the breakables, then unpack on the other end. Packing is billed as labor at our hourly rate, and the boxes, paper, and supplies are charged separately based on what your home actually needs. It isn't a flat fee, and it isn't folded into the $99 hourly move rate. We bring moving blankets and wardrobe cartons as standard gear. Got a baby grand piano, a gun safe, fine art, antiques, or a home gym? Mention it when we quote so the right crew and equipment show up ready on move day.

What to know before you move in Riverside

A few local details that make a Riverside move go smoother.

    Permits and street parking

    Permits and street parking

On Riverside's older downtown and Wood Streets blocks, curb space is tight, and an oversized vehicle can't sit on a residential street for long without permission. Want a guaranteed spot for the truck right out front? You'll arrange a temporary no-parking permit through the City of Riverside. Their traffic engineering office is the place to start, at (951) 826-5366. That part is yours to handle, but we coordinate around whatever you set up. Let us know the day before whether a permit is in place and where the truck should stage, and we'll plan the carry distance and the crew accordingly. Clear curb access shortens the walk between your door and the truck, which keeps the clock honest.

    Downtown and commercial building access

    Downtown and commercial building access

Moving into or out of a downtown Riverside building, especially along the University Avenue corridor or near the Mission Inn, usually means rules. Freight elevators get reserved, loading zones get assigned, and some buildings only allow moves after hours or on weekends. Those reservations and any certificate of insurance the property manager wants are yours to line up, and we'll work with whatever the building requires. Give us the building's contact and its move rules early, and we'll schedule the crew to match the elevator window instead of waiting on it. For commercial jobs a standard general-liability certificate is included; custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately. The more we know about docks and access, the tighter we can plan.

UCR season, hillside lots, and summer heat

UCR season, hillside lots, and summer heat

Riverside's signature move quirk is really three things at once. UC Riverside drives a real season, with student and faculty turnover heaviest as fall quarter approaches in late September, so book early if you're moving near campus or up in Canyon Crest. Then there's the terrain. Hawarden Hills and parts of Canyon Crest sit on grades with winding access, where our 18-foot box truck, the smallest we run, often parks better than a 26-foot. And there's the heat. Riverside summers climb fast, so we'll often suggest an early start to load while it's cooler. Plan around all three and your move day gets a lot easier on everyone, your belongings included.

    Historic homes and HOA tracts

    Historic homes and HOA tracts

The Wood Streets and the blocks near the Mission Inn are full of homes from the teens and twenties, with narrow doorways, tight stairwells, and original floors worth protecting. We wrap furniture in moving blankets and lay runners on the floors, and we measure for the doorways that older homes are known for. Out southeast in Orangecrest, Mission Grove, and the Victoria tracts, the homes are newer but the gates and homeowner association rules are real. Gate codes, approved move hours, and any clearance the association wants are yours to arrange, and we coordinate around them. Whether your place is a 1920s bungalow or a master-planned home off Van Buren, we plan the approach to fit it.

Best days and times to move

Best days and times to move

Riverside traffic knots up where the 91, the 60, and the 215 all meet, and summer afternoons pile heat on top of it. For both reasons we lean toward early starts. A morning load beats the worst of the freeway crunch and gets your furniture on the truck before the day's hottest hours. Midweek tends to be calmer than weekends, and the end of the month and the run-up to UCR's fall quarter are the busiest windows, so booking earlier gives you more choice of dates. We'll talk through the timing when we quote and pick a start that works for your building, your route between the two homes, and the weather. A little planning here saves real time on move day.

Max & Alex are the best movers. They showed up exactly on time and brought any supplies that you may need. They took a lot of care with all my belongings and were super helpful packing up boxes. They took apart my king bed and reassembled it perfectly. They even fixed a loose bolt leaving the bed in better condition than when they arrived. Not a scratch or a ding on anything!...

Not gonna lie after all the quotes I got I was a little skeptical with how affordable their rate was (but I was desperate to save some money haha). But they were amazing! Vladimir and Alik were my 2 men and they handled everything carefully and delicately and like they’ve been doing it forever. They’ve got it down to a science. Nothing damaged or scratched or scuffed or anything and very helpful and communicative. Will def be using them if I ever need to move here again.

After our first movers could not finish the job, I contacted Adept and they fit us in at a very busy time. Our two movers were hardworking and funny and really took care of our belongings. Their rate was much less than our first movers, who did not take great care of our things. I highly recommend Adept Movers.

    Recent Riverside moves

    Wood Streets Craftsman near Larchwood

We moved a family out of a 1920s Craftsman on a Larchwood block in the Wood Streets, just south of downtown. Narrow driveway, mature trees, and the kind of tight original doorways those homes are known for. Our 18-foot truck parked where a bigger one couldn't, and we laid runners over the hardwood and wrapped a heavy dresser and a sectional in moving blankets before they went out. The customer had arranged curb space ahead of time, so the carry stayed short. Everything landed across town in one trip, floors and furniture intact.

    June 2026

Canyon Crest move near Country Club Drive

A UC Riverside faculty household moved within Canyon Crest, off Country Club Drive near campus, ahead of the new term. The hillside streets there wind, and the grade made staging the truck the first order of business, so we set up where the carry stayed safe and level. We started early to beat the heat, wrapped the furniture in blankets, and used wardrobe cartons for the closets. With the route between the two homes short, the day moved quickly. Books and a home office full of equipment made the trip without a scratch, and they were settled before quarter began.

    June 2026

Orangecrest tract home off Van Buren

We handled a move into a master-planned Orangecrest home near Van Buren and Trautwein, in a gated tract with its own access rules. The homeowner had the gate code and approved move hours sorted in advance, so we coordinated the crew to fit that window. Wide streets out there made parking the truck easy, a nice change from the older downtown blocks. We wrapped the furniture, padded a baby grand piano with extra care, and laid runners through the entry. A four-mover crew, one truck, and a written quote the customer had read well before move day.

    Riverside Moving FAQs

    Riverside-specific questions

Our rate starts at $99/hr for cash, with a two-mover crew and regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is separate, and there's no fuel surcharge and no hidden fees. Double drive time applies, and you'll see it written into your quote before move day. You never pay for the drive our crew makes to reach Riverside. We give you a free written quote first so the number's clear up front.

No. Riverside sits a fair distance from our North Hollywood base, and the miles our crew drives to get to you are never on your bill. Double drive time, on the drive between your two locations, your old home and your new one, is spelled out in your written quote ahead of time. How far we drive to reach the job is our cost, not yours.

Yes, that's a big part of what we do in Riverside. Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest one we run, and it fits older driveways and tight downtown blocks where a 26-foot truck simply can't. We lay runners on original floors, wrap furniture in blankets and bubble wrap, and measure for the narrow doorways those 1920s homes are known for. If you want guaranteed curb space, you'd arrange a temporary no-parking permit through the City of Riverside, and we'll plan the crew around it.

Yes. We move specialty items like upright and baby grand pianos, gun safes, fine art, antiques, and home gym equipment. The key is to tell us about them when we quote, so the right crew and the right equipment, blankets, straps, and dollies, show up ready on move day. These pieces take extra care and planning, and knowing about them up front means we wrap and stage them properly rather than improvising once the truck arrives.

We don't book same-day moves. A good Riverside move depends on planning the crew, the truck, and the route, and on a written quote you read before move day, none of which works well on a few hours' notice. Reach out as early as you can, especially in summer or around the UC Riverside fall quarter rush, when our schedule fills fastest. The sooner you book, the more choice you'll have of dates and start times that fit your building and your day.

Yes. We're licensed by the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, license number MTR0190206, and BBB-accredited with an A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance is included on every move at no extra charge. For commercial moves, a standard COI with general liability is included; custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately.

    General questions

It's hourly, starting at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is billed separately. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees. We put the hourly rate in writing before you book, so there's nothing to guess at on the day.

A clean 5.0 on Google across more than 2,000 reviews comes down to a few habits: a clear written quote before you book, uniformed and background-checked crews, regular cargo insurance on every job, and no pressure afterward. Plenty of movers chase volume. We'd rather earn the next job by referral, and the reviews are what come out of that.

For a mid-week, mid-month date, a week's notice is usually plenty. Weekends, the end of the month, and the summer stretch from June through August fill up faster, so give it two to three weeks if you can. We don't currently offer same-day moves, so it's worth getting on the calendar early either way.

Life happens. Reach out as early as you can and we'll work with you to find the next open slot that fits. The sooner you let us know, the easier it is to move the crew around.
