San Clemente is the farthest we drive on this stretch of coast, and that shapes how we quote it. From our Vineland Avenue yard in North Hollywood it runs about 75 to 85 miles southeast, down the I-5 through downtown Los Angeles and the whole length of Orange County before the Avenida Pico or Avenida Palizada ramps. Adept Moving has been California-licensed since 1998 (MTR0190206), rated 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 reviews. We've carried out of the Spanish-tile homes above Avenida Del Mar, the beach-close cottages in the Pier Bowl and Southwest San Clemente, and the bigger multilevel houses inland in Talega and Forster Ranch. Our rate starts from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is separate, with no fuel surcharge and no hidden charges at the end. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. We hold an A+ BBB rating.

Serving San Clemente from North Hollywood

Our yard sits on Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, about 75 to 85 driving miles northwest of San Clemente. We run Vineland to the US-101 or SR-134, drop onto the I-5 south through downtown Los Angeles, and stay on it the length of Orange County to the San Clemente ramps at Avenida Pico, Avenida Palizada, Avenida Vista Hermosa, or Camino De Estrella. That covers every San Clemente neighborhood: the downtown Spanish-village core above Avenida Del Mar, the beach-close Pier Bowl and Southwest San Clemente cottages, the coastal bluff homes above the Beach Trail, and the inland master-planned tracts of Talega, Forster Ranch, and Rancho San Clemente.

What we know about moving in San Clemente

    Who's moving here

San Clemente splits pretty cleanly between the coast and the hills inland, and our work follows that line. Near the water, in Southwest San Clemente, the Pier Bowl, the Riviera, and the bluff homes above the Beach Trail, we move homeowners and condo residents on steep, narrow streets where getting the truck placed is half the battle. Inland, in the master-planned tracts of Talega, Forster Ranch, and Rancho San Clemente, we handle move-up families in larger multilevel homes, usually with HOA move rules to work around and sloped driveways to manage. Downtown along Avenida Del Mar and El Camino Real, we move small retail, restaurant, and office tenants inside metered, time-limited curb space. We handle San Clemente as part of our Los Angeles moving services, running it out of North Hollywood like the rest of far-south Orange County. We see the same move over and over: a family trading a downtown cottage for a Talega hillside home, or a household heading north to Dana Point on El Camino Real.

How the streets shape a move

San Clemente is built across steep coastal hillsides that drop from inland ridgelines, over 900 feet up in the eastern tracts, down to the pier and the sand, and the grade decides most of what happens on move day. The Pier Bowl, Southwest San Clemente, and the coastal bluff streets are narrow and winding, with short pitched driveways, tight switchback lanes, and little room to turn a long truck around. On streets like these a 26-foot truck often can't make the turn or the grade, so we stage where it's safe and carry up or down the slope. Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, and it's what we send when the big one won't fit a coastal driveway or a hillside lane. Downtown, Avenida Del Mar runs on a steep grade toward the ocean with metered, time-limited curb parking, tight shop frontages, and heavy foot traffic, so there's almost no off-street loading. Inland, the Talega and Forster Ranch tracts have wider streets and driveways, but the approaches still slope. Which truck we send, and where it can park, comes down to that grade.

    Timing and access

Sorting the access before move day is what keeps a San Clemente job on schedule. In the HOA communities, Talega, Forster Ranch, and Rancho San Clemente, the association sets gate hours, entry routes, and any move windows, so we coordinate our arrival once you line that up. Down in the Pier Bowl, Southwest San Clemente, and the bluff streets, we plan curbside staging because the driveways run steep and the lanes have no room to spare, and we ask you to walk the access before the day. Downtown along Avenida Del Mar and El Camino Real, the metered, time-limited curb parking means we sequence the load to work inside it. I-5 is the only freeway spine through town, and it funnels every regional trip through a handful of interchanges, while the summer beach, pier, and Avenida Del Mar crowds pack the coast from June through August. Plenty of our San Clemente moves run a short coastal hop: north to Dana Point or Capistrano Beach on El Camino Real, or over to San Juan Capistrano on Avenida La Pata. We time the legs around the tourist crush to keep the drive between your two locations short, and a mid-morning start keeps the clock from running on traffic. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. We talk it through up front, so there's no guessing on the day.

    Why San Clemente picks Adept

Licensed since 1998. A rate you can read at a glance, and a crew used to the steep Spanish-village coast and the inland HOA tracts.

    5.0 with over 2,000 reviews

We hold a 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 verified reviews. That track record is what we hang our name on, and it's the first thing we'd point a new San Clemente customer to.

    From $99/hr, two movers

Our rate is $99 per hour for a two-mover crew, cash. Regular cargo insurance is included, the truck fee's separate, and there's no fuel surcharge.

    No hidden fees

What's in the written quote is what you pay. No surprise add-ons at the curb, and double drive time is advised on the quote up front.

    Licensed and insured

We're California-licensed, MTR0190206, with an A+ rating at the BBB. The paperwork's real, and we're happy to show it.

The right truck for the coast

Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, made for steep coastal driveways and narrow hillside lanes. The 26-foot is our standard for bigger loads.

    Local since 1998

We've worked out of North Hollywood since 1998, a 75-to-85-mile haul down the I-5 to San Clemente. The Spanish-village coast and the inland tracts aren't new to us.

What we move in San Clemente

    Local Moving in San Clemente

    Local Moving in San Clemente

House, cottage, condo, or apartment, we handle San Clemente local moves from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, with regular cargo insurance included. We wrap furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap, lay floor runners on your floors, and bring dollies and wardrobe cartons. If you've got an upright or baby grand piano, a gun safe, fine art, antiques, or a home gym, tell us up front so we plan for it. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote.

    Commercial moves in San Clemente

    Commercial moves in San Clemente

We move shops, restaurants, and small offices along Avenida Del Mar and El Camino Real, and light-industrial and office tenants in the Rancho San Clemente business park on Calle Negocio and Calle Frontera. That's desks, files, display fixtures, and office equipment, worked at our hourly rate with a two-mover crew. For buildings that ask for a certificate of insurance, a standard general-liability COI is included for commercial jobs, and if you need custom additional-insured wording, we quote that separately. Metered, time-limited curb parking and heavy pedestrian traffic are the norm downtown, so you handle the building access rules and we coordinate the timing and sequence the load so your move lands in its window.

Packing and unpacking in San Clemente

Packing and unpacking in San Clemente

If you'd rather leave the packing to us, our crew packs and unpacks at the hourly rate, and disposable packing materials and supplies are billed separately, not folded into the $99. We bring moving blankets, bubble wrap, dollies, and wardrobe cartons, and we can do a full pack or just the kitchen and the breakables while you handle the rest. Packing labor is billed at the same hourly crew time as the move, not a separate flat quote. Tell us how much you want done and we'll give you a realistic read in the written quote, so the day doesn't run long on surprises.

What to know before you move in San Clemente

A few local details that keep move day smooth, from permits to hillside access.

    Permits and street rules

    Permits and street rules

Curbing the truck is no trouble on many San Clemente blocks, but downtown along Avenida Del Mar and El Camino Real, where the curb is metered, time-limited, and busy with shoppers and diners, a reserved spot can save a long carry up the grade. The City of San Clemente Public Works Department, Engineering Division, at 910 Calle Negocio, issues Right-of-Way Encroachment Permits for work or obstruction in the public right-of-way, and it's worth calling the Engineering Division to ask what applies to a moving truck on your street. Whether the city wants a dedicated permit for moving-truck curb staging, rather than a general encroachment permit, is worth confirming with Engineering directly, and the advance-notice window wasn't something we could pin down, so give yourself a few days. Pulling the permit and posting the signs is your job, not ours, but we'll tell you exactly where the truck needs to sit so you can request the right spot. If you'd like a hand thinking it through, call us at (800) 307-1302. Oversize truck movement on I-5 is handled separately by Caltrans, not the city.

    Downtown and HOA community access

    Downtown and HOA community access

San Clemente access falls into two worlds, the old downtown core and the inland master-planned tracts. Along Avenida Del Mar and El Camino Real, shops and small offices sit in narrow Spanish Colonial Revival storefronts built close to the sidewalk, with metered, time-limited curb parking and little off-street loading, so a move there means working inside short curb windows and dense pedestrian traffic. Inland, communities like Talega and Forster Ranch run on HOA move rules and community access points, so the gate hours, entry routes, and any move windows are yours to arrange with the association ahead of time, not ours to book. Once you've cleared that, we coordinate our arrival to it, pad the entry, lay floor runners, run the load on dollies, and keep it moving. The larger multilevel floor plans in Talega often mean carrying from upper floors down a flight or two, so we plan the staging before the day. If a building or association asks for a certificate of insurance, a standard general-liability COI is included for commercial jobs, and custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately. Tell us the HOA and building rules when you ask for your quote and we'll set the crew start to fit the window.

    Hillside and coastal access

    Hillside and coastal access

The steep coastal hillsides are where a San Clemente move earns its planning. The Pier Bowl, Southwest San Clemente, the Riviera, and the bluff homes above the Beach Trail all sit on narrow, winding streets that funnel down toward the pier and the sand, with short pitched driveways, tight switchback lanes, and limited room to turn a long truck around. Inland, Rancho San Clemente climbs from under 80 feet to over 900 feet on winding hillside streets, and parts of Talega and Forster Ranch sit on graded slopes of their own. On a lot of these streets a 26-foot truck can't make the grade or the turn, so we send our 18-foot box truck, the smallest we run, and stage at the nearest safe pull-out when the driveway is too steep or too tight to reach the door. The coastal rail line and the Beach Trail separate the bluff homes from the beach, which adds its own constrained carry. We don't run a shuttle service or promise to drive any particular grade, so a pre-move walkthrough matters here more than anywhere: we ask you to walk the access yourself before move day and tell us the carry distance, the driveway pitch, and the stair runs. Flag the grade and the carry when you ask for your quote so we size the truck and the crew for the hill.

    Spanish-village cottages and hillside homes

    Spanish-village cottages and hillside homes

Housing in San Clemente ranges from 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival homes to 2000s master-planned builds, and the carry shifts with the era. Downtown around Avenida Del Mar and out in Southwest San Clemente, the older white-stucco, red-tile homes and beach cottages sit on tight lots with narrow doorways, tiled stairs, arched openings, and built-in millwork. A wide sectional might have to go through at an angle, or we lift a door off its hinges and take apart a bed frame to make the opening. A mattress has no such give, so it rides flat and a box spring goes through cornerwise. Up in Talega, Forster Ranch, and Rancho San Clemente, the newer homes have wide rooms but long interior and exterior stair runs from the street, so the challenge shifts to the grade and the flights rather than the doorways. We pad the staircases and the built-in cabinetry on the way out, lay floor runners on the floors, and wrap furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap. The city grew up under a Spanish Colonial Revival design standard, and architectural review still steers renovations, but that's a paperwork matter for the owner and doesn't change how we wrap and carry. Since we don't pre-measure on a site visit, it helps to tell us the doorway and stairwell situation, plus any vintage or built-in pieces, when you ask for the quote.

    Best days and times

    Best days and times

Everything in San Clemente funnels onto I-5, the single freeway spine, which pushes every regional trip through a handful of interchanges at Avenida Pico, Avenida Palizada, Avenida Vista Hermosa, and Camino De Estrella. When the freeway backs up, El Camino Real is the main parallel surface route, and it fills too. Down at the coast, summer and holiday beach, pier, and Avenida Del Mar visitor traffic sharply raises congestion and parking demand, so downtown and Pier Bowl curb staging is hardest from June through August. A mid-morning start, once the early commute clears, usually holds the drive between your two locations down and keeps the clock fair. Weekdays are quieter downtown and easier in the HOA communities, where gate and move coordination goes smoother midweek than on a packed Saturday. Moves here peak in summer, June through August, with the Capistrano Unified School District calendar and lease turnover, the same months the coastal crush makes curb staging toughest, so those dates fill faster and the best availability lands mid-week and mid-month. We'll talk timing through when we put your written quote together, so the start matches your access.

Max & Alex are the best movers. They showed up exactly on time and brought any supplies that you may need. They took a lot of care with all my belongings and were super helpful packing up boxes. They took apart my king bed and reassembled it perfectly. They even fixed a loose bolt leaving the bed in better condition than when they arrived. Not a scratch or a ding on anything!...

Not gonna lie after all the quotes I got I was a little skeptical with how affordable their rate was (but I was desperate to save some money haha). But they were amazing! Vladimir and Alik were my 2 men and they handled everything carefully and delicately and like they’ve been doing it forever. They’ve got it down to a science. Nothing damaged or scratched or scuffed or anything and very helpful and communicative. Will def be using them if I ever need to move here again.

After our first movers could not finish the job, I contacted Adept and they fit us in at a very busy time. Our two movers were hardworking and funny and really took care of our belongings. Their rate was much less than our first movers, who did not take great care of our things. I highly recommend Adept Movers.

    Recent San Clemente moves

    Downtown Spanish-style home, 92672

A whole-home move out of an original-era Spanish Colonial Revival house on a narrow, sloped downtown street near Avenida Del Mar, 92672. After a pre-move walkthrough, the crew planned truck placement inside metered, time-limited curb space and staged carries down the grade rather than parking at the door. They protected the tight interior corridors, padded the tiled stairs, wrapped the furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap, and laid floor runners through the entry. The owner walked the access with us beforehand too, so the carry and the curb window were known quantities by the time the truck arrived. Priced hourly, two movers, cargo insurance already covered.

    Avenida Del Mar, 92672

    Talega hillside home, 92673

This one was a whole-home move from a two-story hillside residence in the master-planned Talega community, 92673. The crew worked within the HOA move guidelines and the community's access points, and managed a sloped driveway approach while carrying larger furniture down from the upper floor. They padded the stair runs and the built-ins, wrapped the furniture in moving blankets and bubble wrap, and laid floor runners on the way out. The move window was set with the association ahead of time, so the crew arrived to it and kept the load moving. Two movers on the clock, cargo insurance included.

    Talega, 92673

Avenida Del Mar retail relocation, 92672

A small ground-floor shop moving to a new space along the Avenida Del Mar corridor, 92672, needed its fixtures shifted nearby. We moved display fixtures, packed stock, and the office equipment, all at our hourly rate with a two-mover crew. The historic Spanish-style storefront had a narrow frontage, and the curb was metered and time-limited with heavy pedestrian and dining traffic and no off-street loading, so we sequenced the packed loads to work inside the short curb window and protected the shared entry. The two spaces sat close together, a short drive between them. The new building asked for a certificate of insurance, and the standard general-liability COI we include for commercial jobs covered it. Back open without losing much of the day.

    San Clemente Moving FAQs

    San Clemente-specific questions

Our rate starts from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, paid in cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is separate, and there's no fuel surcharge or hidden fees. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. We put the whole estimate in writing so you know what to expect before move day.

We don't currently offer same-day moves. A good San Clemente move takes planning, the right truck for a steep coastal street or a hillside tract, and a crew scheduled ahead, and we'd rather set it up properly than rush it. Reach out as early as you can and we'll get you a written quote and a date that works. Even a few days' notice helps us send the right truck for a Pier Bowl driveway or a Talega HOA window.

On most San Clemente blocks, no, but downtown along Avenida Del Mar and El Camino Real, where the curb is metered and time-limited, a reserved spot saves a long carry. The City of San Clemente Public Works Department, Engineering Division, at 910 Calle Negocio, handles Right-of-Way Encroachment Permits for the public right-of-way, so it's worth calling to ask what applies to your street. Pulling the permit and posting it is your job, but we'll tell you where we need the truck to sit so you can request the right spot.

It depends on your load and your access. Our 26-foot truck is the standard for bigger moves. Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, and it's the one we send for the steep driveways, switchbacks, and narrow streets in the Pier Bowl, Southwest San Clemente, and the coastal bluffs, and for the hillside lanes where a 26-foot truck can't make the turn or the grade. Tell us your address and how much you're moving, and we'll size the truck before move day.

Yes. Our crew packs and unpacks at the hourly rate, and disposable packing materials and supplies are billed separately, not included in the $99. We bring boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, and wardrobe cartons. We also handle specialty pieces like upright and baby grand pianos, gun safes, fine art, antiques, and home gyms, so let us know up front and we'll plan the crew and equipment around them.

Yes. We're licensed by the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, license number MTR0190206, and BBB-accredited with an A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance is included on every move at no extra charge. For commercial moves, a standard COI with general liability is included; custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately.

    General questions

It's hourly, starting at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is billed separately. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees. We put the hourly rate in writing before you book, so there's nothing to guess at on the day.

A clean 5.0 on Google across more than 2,000 reviews comes down to a few habits: a clear written quote before you book, uniformed and background-checked crews, regular cargo insurance on every job, and no pressure afterward. Plenty of movers chase volume. We'd rather earn the next job by referral, and the reviews are what come out of that.

For a mid-week, mid-month date, a week's notice is usually plenty. Weekends, the end of the month, and the summer stretch from June through August fill up faster, so give it two to three weeks if you can. We don't currently offer same-day moves, so it's worth getting on the calendar early either way.

Life happens. Reach out as early as you can and we'll work with you to find the next open slot that fits. The sooner you let us know, the easier it is to move the crew around.
