A residential move from Keokuk Avenue to Schoolcraft Street

Adept Moving recently moved a client from a single-story house on Keokuk Avenue in Woodland Hills to a one-story bungalow on Schoolcraft Street in Canoga Park. It was a quiet, tree-lined street with a lot of mid-century ranch-style houses scattered along the street. The majority of houses here also had crepe myrtles in full bloom along the sidewalks. It was July, and these Lilacs of the South blossomed from mid-summer to September.

It was a light load with only a few items to move, but a client wanted three movers for loading and unloading, so Kostya and Alim were with me from the beginning.

  • Destination: A single-story bungalow on Schoolcraft Street, Canoga Park
  • Property type: Single-story houses on both ends
  • Crew: Three-mover crew
  • Inventory: A loveseat, a stack of kitchen boxes, two nightstands, a dresser, two mattresses, a fridge, and two upholstered recliner chairs

Keokuk Avenue Pickup

The client called us a few days ahead of time to book the move. They told us that the morning timetable would be busy, and the afternoon would work out best. We confirmed it and arranged the move.

Keokuk Avenue sat on the lower hillsides of De Soto Avenue. The client confirmed a private driveway where we could legally park and make a load. We chose our 18-foot box truck, the smallest of our fleet, as it would handle the narrow street and tight turns better than any other truck. There were a lot of ranch-style houses along the street built between the 1950s and the 1960s. We arrived in mid-afternoon, legally parked on our client's private driveway, set out the cones near the truck, and put the ramp down.

We laid the floor runners from the start to protect the floors. I took the bedroom first, where I saw the loveseat. I wrapped it in the moving blanket and carried it on a moving dolly through the garage, which the client had opened before our arrival. It greatly expedited our move since all items were carried out from the house to the truck using the garage.

Meanwhile, Kostya went to another bedroom where the client had already packed two nightstands and two mattresses. He brought out the mattresses on a dolly, one at a time, up the ramp and into the corner of the truck. The nightstands were stacked in the truck right after.

We wrapped two recliner chairs in moving blankets before they left the house and carried them right to the truck.

Alim went to the garage where he saw a fridge. We placed it on a moving dolly, wrapped in a moving blanket like anything else, and wheeled it out through the garage right to the truck.

The dresser and the stack of kitchen boxes were already packed and taped by the client. We stacked them into the truck last. Once everything was loaded, we put back the cones and drove away to Schoolcraft Street.

Schoolcraft Street Drop-off

Schoolcraft Street was a flat residential block lined with single-family homes from the 1960s and the 1970s. We arrived there and legally parked at the curb, where the client pointed. The fridge went first. We carefully carried it into the house, unwrapped it, and placed it in the kitchen, where the client pointed out the space.

Kostya carried a loveseat and two nightstands on a moving dolly right to the bedroom where the client wanted. We brought in two recliner chairs from the truck to the bedroom and placed them near the wardrobe.

Alim and Kostya moved two mattresses into the house right after on a moving dolly, fully wrapped. The client asked us to leave them in the bedroom unwrapped. A dresser and a stack of kitchen boxes were delivered to the house last.

The client was happy with our service, especially with how quickly we moved the items using the garage.
