An Apartment Move from Ventura Boulevard to a Single-Family Residence on Jumilla Avenue

Adept Moving recently handled a residential move from a ground-floor apartment in a four-story building in Woodland Hills' Warner Center area. Our destination was a ranch-style single-family residence on Jumilla Avenue in College Acres.

It was an ordinary two-mover job, as there were not too many items on the move list. Ilya assisted me with this move from A to B.

The Move at a Glance

  • Pickup: A ground-floor apartment in a four-story building in a gated community on Ventura Boulevard, Warner Center, Woodland Hills
  • Destination: A ranch-style single-family residence on Jumilla Avenue, College Acres, Woodland Hills
  • Property type: A ground-floor apartment at the pickup, a single-family home at the drop-off
  • Crew: Two-mover crew
  • Inventory: Three cushioned armchairs, a 24-inch iMac, a sofabed, two nightstands, several Home Depot moving boxes and Amazon shipping boxes

Ventura Boulevard Pickup

The clients wanted to move from a ground-floor apartment in the four-story building on Ventura Boulevard to a single-family residence on Jumilla Avenue, not far from the pickup. They called us a couple of days ahead of time to place an order and specified the move details; namely, what was moving and a suitable timetable. It was confirmed that the morning was the best option for our clients.

We chose an 18-foot box truck from our fleet and came over to the pickup in the morning, just like they wanted. It was confirmed that we could legally occupy the curb near the building beforehand. The building itself had four stories with balconies on each floor, but the clients' apartment was on the ground level, so we didn't need the elevator or stairs. It was a truck-to-the-door carry.

We parked legally at the painted red curb, set out our cones behind the truck, and put down the ramp. I took the bedroom and started from the armchairs. I shrink-wrapped three armchairs to avoid dirt before they left the apartment. I used the materials the clients gave me. The clients had a lot of disposable supplies and materials that they bought the day before our arrival. I moved the three chairs on a moving dolly right to the truck and stacked them in the corner.

Ilya went to the hall where the clients pointed at the 24-inch iMac. They wanted to move it in its original carton. So, Ilya wrapped it in a moving blanket for extra protection. He moved it by hand, loaded it upright, and secured it against the truck wall. Then Ilya came back for Home Depot moving boxes and Amazon shipping boxes. The boxes had already been taped up by the client before we arrived. Most of them were small and medium moving boxes. He stacked them on the moving dolly, four or five at a time, and wheeled them out to the truck, following the painted red curb. I stayed up in the truck, arranging these boxes properly, so none of them would shift on the road.

We carried a sofabed and two nightstands last. Everything was wrapped in the moving blankets.

After we made a quick walkthrough with the clients and everything was loaded, we drove away to Jumilla Avenue.

Jumilla Avenue Drop-off

The drop-off was a single-family residence, located in College Acres, widely known as Candy Cane Lane among the locals. There were a lot of ranch-style single-story homes scattered along the street. They sat on much larger lots than what we had just come from. The clients confirmed that we could legally park at the curb.

I carried the iMac to the bedroom where the clients had cleared space. It was left on the table in its original Apple carton. Then I brought in two nightstands on my next trip.

Ilya carried the Home Depot moving boxes and Amazon shipping boxes on the dolly, four or five at a time, right to the closet like the clients wanted. Then we wheeled in a sofabed and three cushioned armchairs to another bedroom.
