Two-Story Apartment Move from Allen Avenue to Raymond Avenue in Glendale

Adept Moving handled a local apartment move from Allen Avenue, Glendale, CA 91201, in April. The block is a quiet one, duplexes and bougainvillea along the curb down the road. The two-story Tudor-style apartment is the one that stands out on that street.

The client reached out a few days ahead, confirmed access, told us what he planned to move, and we set the date. He needed to move because his apartment was going under repair for a while. Two stories, and every item had to come down the stairs, so we sent a three-mover crew with standard equipment. I took David and Maxim with me.

The job at a glance

  • Pickup: Allen Avenue, Glendale, CA 91201
  • Destination: Raymond Avenue, Glendale, CA 91201
  • Property Type: Two-story apartment
  • Crew: Three professional movers
  • Inventory: A loveseat, 15 household boxes (3 fragile), a microwave oven, 3 nightstands, a dresser, a small dining table with 4 chairs, a 50-inch TV with a PlayStation, and 5 wardrobe cartons.

Loading on Allen Avenue

Streets and neighborhoods differ on permits and curb rules, so the one thing we needed settled before the day was a legal loading spot. The client was well informed about that and confirmed it on the call. Morning suited him, it was his day off. We took the 26-foot box truck for this one.

We arrived at the agreed time. The spot the client had confirmed was there waiting, so the truck went straight to it. Cone out by the ramp, liftgate already down to run the dolly in and out.

The loveseat came down the stairs in blankets and went out on the dolly.

The client let us in and walked us through what was going. Floor runners went down over the old floors before anything moved. Maxim took the bedroom where the loveseat was. Small enough that it did not need to come apart, so it went into moving blankets and the two of us carried it down the stairs to the truck.

David took the other bedroom and started running the 15 household boxes out on the dolly. The three fragile ones got their own space in the truck. He loaded by weight. The dresser came out on the dolly as well. Then the dining table came apart, a tabletop and four legs, all of it wrapped in moving blankets along with the chairs.

I took the hall, where the client pointed out the 50-inch TV and the PlayStation. He had kept the original cartons and wanted them packed that way. He had told us on the call that the TV was not wall-mounted, so there was nothing to take off a wall. Both went back into their own boxes and then into moving blankets before they were loaded. After that I brought out the 5 wardrobe cartons, the microwave, and the 3 nightstands.

The client walked the apartment with Maxim before the doors shut, to be sure everything was on the truck.

Delivery to Raymond Avenue

Raymond Avenue is a few blocks away, still Glendale. Legal spot at the curb again. This end was the easier half: a one-story apartment with ground-floor access and no stairs at all.

The TV and the PlayStation went in first, still in blankets. David carried them with me and the customer showed us where in the hall they were going. David also brought in the 3 nightstands, the household boxes, the wardrobe cartons, and the dresser.

Maxim and I took the loveseat. The microwave went into the corner of the kitchen. The small dining table and the 4 chairs went to the kitchen too, and the table was put back together there, tabletop in place and the legs back on.

Stairs at One End, None at the Other

The load itself was an ordinary one bedroom. What set the crew size was the flight of stairs at the pickup, and knowing about it before the day is what kept the morning short. The client said as much afterwards, about the pace and about the wrapping.

Apartment moves inside Glendale are most of what our crews do here. Stairs, walkways and curb access are the things worth telling us when you book. More on the neighborhood is on our Glendale movers page, the rest of the coverage sits under Los Angeles movers, and packing and unpacking has its own page.
