Single-Story House Move from Bellevue Drive to Watson Street in Glendale

Adept Moving handled a move out of Bellevue Drive, Glendale, CA 91201, in May. The street is residential and low-density, mostly California Ranch and Spanish-style single-story houses down the block. The Verdugo foothills sit behind the rooftops.

The client confirmed access before we even set the date. He was outgrowing the place and taking everything with him, oversized pieces included. A move like that is normally a three-mover job, so Kostya and Dima were with me.

The job at a glance

  • Pickup: Bellevue Drive, Glendale, CA 91201
  • Destination: Watson Street, Glendale, CA 91201
  • Property Type: Single-family residence
  • Crew: Three professional movers
  • Inventory: An 85-inch OLED TV, a queen-size bed, 2 nightstands, a fridge, a two-seater sofa, a dresser, a dining table with 10 chairs, and around 20 household boxes, a few of them fragile.

Loading on Bellevue Drive

Once access was confirmed we built the timetable around the traffic, because getting to the pickup on time meant staying out of rush hour. The client agreed to a morning slot.

We took a 26-foot truck for this one. Bellevue Drive is wide, there was room to bring it in, and none of the turns were tight. We parked legally at the curb and put a cone by the ramp, liftgate down for the dolly.

Bellevue Drive is wide enough for the 26-foot truck, foothills behind the rooftops.

Inside, all three of us had something to do. Floor runners went down first. Kostya took the hall where the TV was. He repacked the OLED back into its original box, then put a moving blanket over that. It rode as a fragile item, upright and secured against the truck wall. Kostya also ran all 20 household boxes out on the dolly, the fragile ones in their own space, loaded by weight.

I went to the bedroom for the queen bed. It had to come partly apart before it left the room. Box spring and frame pieces separated and wrapped, mattress wrapped too, all of it out to the truck. Then the living room, where Kostya helped me with the two-seater sofa. Small enough that nothing needed to come apart.

There was a small fridge, which went out on the dolly over the runners we had already laid, and got its moving blanket outside like everything else.

The customer showed us the dining table, and Dima took that one with me because a table needs a different approach. It came apart into five pieces, a tabletop and four legs. The legs were wrapped and carried as one unit. Then Dima came back with the dolly for the wrapped tabletop and loaded it. He carried the dresser out on the dolly as well, blanketed before it left the house, and after that the two nightstands and the 10 chairs.

While Dima was finishing, Kostya and I walked the house to check nothing had been missed.

Delivery to Watson Street

Watson Street is a couple of blocks down the road, another single-story house, access already confirmed. Kostya helped me carry the 85-inch TV in, still in its carton and blankets, to where the client pointed. The two-seater sofa went in there too. Dima and Kostya unloaded the 20 boxes, fragile ones first, sorted by room. Dima came back for the dresser and took it to the bedroom. The fridge went to the spot the client picked in the kitchen.

The dining table was put back together, tabletop in place and the four legs back on, and the client asked for it and the chairs in the dining room.

The bed came in last, in pieces, and went back together in the bedroom. The frame first, always, then the box spring, then the mattress on top.

The OLED Was the Piece to Plan Around

Nothing here was complicated by the street. Bellevue Drive gave us room and the delivery was a level walk. What the client was actually worried about was the 85-inch TV, which is why it went back in its own box before it went anywhere. Telling us about a piece like that at booking is what lets us plan it instead of improvising on the day.
