A residential move from Queens Road to Stanley Hills Drive

Adept Moving recently moved the client from Queens Road on a hillside to Stanley Hills Drive. The street was on a steep hillside lot with bougainvillea along the curb. There were a lot of cypress trees down the road.

It was a three-mover from the start, as we knew all the ins and outs. Dima and Alik were by my side from A to B.

The Move at a Glance

  • Pickup: A residential house on Queens Road on a steep hillside lot
  • Destination: Single-family home on Stanley Hills Drive
  • Property type: Single-family residence
  • Crew: Three-mover crew
  • Inventory: A gas grill, two wrapped armchairs, a dresser, three cardboard boxes, patio furniture (a table and two chairs), two mattresses, a wooden board, and a stack of household boxes

Queens Road Pickup

We contacted the client in advance to arrange the most convenient time window for our arrival. They confirmed to us that the morning would work out the best. It was a narrow street, and hillside areas like this had tight turns and limited room to turn around; in light of this, we chose an 18-foot box truck. The truck that would handle this move without a hitch.

The client confirmed the legal parking spot right away, but it was on another street behind the house. Our crew arrived in the morning, legally parked on a street behind the house, set out the cones behind the truck, and lowered the liftgate.

The house stood out from the whole block; it had its own patio, garden, BBQ area, and French doors. It was a pretty spacious house with a lot of items sorted out in different rooms, so each of us had a different job.

The gas grill and patio furniture were stacked right in the BBQ area. Dima and I wrapped it carefully in moving blankets and stored it on a moving dolly. We were moving the items down the hill right to the street where we parked our truck.

Dima went to the kitchen and brought out a wooden board right through the front door; he maneuvered it, and it fit through without a problem. He moved it past a large tree the same way down the street to the truck. The same thing he did with two small armchairs. Then I helped him store a stack of household boxes on a moving dolly, and we wheeled them out, right through a side passage all the way down. We were moving up and down until all the boxes were stacked in the corner of the truck.

Then Alik and Dima went to the bedroom, where the client showed two mattresses that were shrink-wrapped from the beginning, using the client's disposable supplies and materials that they had in spades. They were stacked against the truck wall and rode on their edges.

A dresser and three cardboard boxes went last. Nothing was complicated about it. Once we confirmed everything was loaded and strapped down, we pulled back the cones and drove away to Stanley Hills Drive.

Stanley Hills Drive Drop-off

Stanley Hills Drive sat above the street on a sloped lot. We parked legally at the curb where the client confirmed us. It was not a plain curb-to-the-door delivery; the house had a run of stone garden steps.

Alik stayed in the truck and was facilitating the unloading at first. He was handing us items down that needed to be moved. A gas grill and patio furniture went in first. Dima helped me move the items on a moving dolly up the stone garden steps through a stretch of fern planting. It was stored and unwrapped where the client pointed.

Then we brought in two mattresses on a dolly right to the bedroom, the same way, all the way up the stairs. They were unwrapped and put against the wall. Alik then did his part and carried in a dresser and three cardboard boxes on a moving dolly up the stairs into the house.

Then we teamed up and moved a wooden board and a stack of boxes on a moving dolly. It took some time to move it up the stairs. We left the items where the client showed us. Two small armchairs came in last. They were placed in the kitchen.
