A two-story apartment move from Sierra Alta Way to a bungalow on Melrose Avenue

Adept Moving recently moved a client from a two-story apartment on Sierra Alta Way to a bungalow on Melrose Avenue. It was a narrow, tree-lined, landscaped street with a lot of residential apartments down the block.

We knew the ins and outs of the move in advance, so it was a regular two-mover job. Oleg assisted me with the move from the beginning.

The Move at a Glance

  • Pickup: A two-story apartment on Sierra Alta Way, West Hollywood
  • Destination: A one-story bungalow on Melrose Avenue, Fairfax
  • Property type: Two-story apartment at the pickup
  • Crew: Two-mover crew
  • Inventory: A painting, a dining table with 4 chairs, kitchen appliances, three nightstands, and a dresser

Sierra Alta Way Pickup

We would like to know the best time of arrival so we were in contact with the client ahead of time. The client contacted us through the messenger beforehand. He wanted to move to Melrose Avenue. They confirmed that the afternoon would be a suitable timetable since they would be busy in the morning. It was a light load, so the afternoon worked out pretty well. We chose an 18-foot box truck as it would fit the narrow WeHo street perfectly.

Sierra Alta sat above the Sunset Strip with the tall trees curving from both sides of this narrow street. The high-rise buildings were visible behind the street. The client confirmed the legal parking spot. We parked legally near the curb where the grade leveled out enough for the ramp. We pulled out, set the cones behind the truck, and started to load.

I took the hall first, where the client showed us the painting. It took some time to bubble wrap it and tape it down so it wouldn't shift during the move; then we wrapped it in a moving blanket on top before it even left the house. The client had a lot of disposable materials and supplies in spades that they gave us on move day; it really sped up the process.

Oleg went to the bedroom at the same time and brought out three nightstands that were sorted in the bedroom, and a dresser, one by one. Everything was moved on a moving dolly from the bedroom to the ramp.

Then we went to the kitchen, where the client pointed out a dining table and chairs. We took apart a dining table right on site: one tabletop, 4 legs, which were removed first, and one bag of hardware (screws, bolts, etc.) We wrapped the legs, tabletop, and chairs in moving blankets and carried them out on a moving dolly through the front door without a hitch. The items were stacked against the wall. The dresser came out last as it was the heaviest piece of that day.

The client did a quick walkthrough with Oleg to make sure that everything was sorted out and loaded. After the confirmation, we drove away to Melrose Avenue.

Melrose Avenue Drop-off

It was a single-story bungalow on Melrose Avenue. The client confirmed the place where we could legally occupy the curb. It was a nice and easy curb-to-the-door delivery with no strings attached. Oleg helped me carry in a dining table and 4 chairs on a moving dolly to the kitchen where the client showed us. It was reassembled right there, starting with the tabletop first, then we attached the four legs next; we used all the screws from the hardware bag.

Oleg also placed all kitchen appliances from the truck where the client wanted. I brought in a dresser and three nightstands on a moving dolly. Everything was sorted out room by room with nothing left behind.

The painting was stacked in the truck the longest until the client decided where it should be placed. Oleg helped me move it in the hall, fully wrapped; it reached the place without a mark on it.

The client was especially worried about the painting. But when they saw how we handled the move and carried the painting without a mark on it, they were happy.
