We have a lot of different cases, moving anything from potted plants to dumbbells. And this one was all about the sports stuff. The client wanted to move his home gym. He told us about all the inventory in his collection, so we knew exactly what to expect. He also promised to provide the parking spot, and we agreed to arrive for the pickup on Westgate Street at the scheduled time. Knowing that we were about to deal with dumbbells and kettlebells, and other sports equipment, I decided to go in a 3-mover crew. It was me, Timofey, and Alex. We arrived with an 18-foot moving truck.

Destination: S Hill Avenue, Pasadena

Westgate St Pickup
In the early afternoon, our crew pulled up to the single-story stucco house. Like many homes in older Pasadena, this one hid its real size. The lot stretched far back from the street, with a long concrete driveway running along the side of the house. We parked legally on the street in front of the house, along the curb so the truck didn't block the driveway.
The client showed us the home gym, and there was a lot to move. We decided to first deal with the mobile weight storage cart. We stretch-wrapped it using our packing material billed separately. This helped us keep the bumper plates from sliding and dumbbells from rolling while Timofey and I moved the cart. Alex brought the rest of the bumper plates to the truck. One by one, we loaded the kettlebells and the rest of the dumbbells. A treadmill was next, and it took the job of Alex and Timofey. They used a dolly to move the exercise machine. Then we moved the rowing machine.
I carried the adjustable weight bench and loaded it onto the truck while Timofey brought an EZ curl bar. We went back to help Alex place the elliptical trainer on a dolly and wheel it out. The job was done; all equipment was loaded and secured for the ride.
Drop-off at S Hill Avenue
The drop-off, a two-story Mediterranean Revival house, was on S Hill Avenue. Our truck was parked legally on the street, keeping the driveway gate and the sidewalk clear. There was a paved walkway, so we used it to roll the cart and bench and carry the smaller items. All of them went to the home gym. After putting down the floor runners, Timofey and I wheeled the elliptical trainer and went back to the truck to help Alex carry all the dumbbells and kettlebells. I unloaded the adjustable weight bench and placed it next to the window in the gym. Meanwhile, Timofey and Alex moved the treadmill, which found its place next to the huge wall mirror. They did the same with the rowing machine. The next task was bumper plates. We placed them on the floor, next to the dumbbells and kettlebells. The mobile weight storage cart with the rest of the bumper plates and dumbbells took its place next to the treadmill. I also brought in an EZ curl bar. The gym was fully set up.
