Eldora Road Move, Pasadena

The call came from a single-story Spanish bungalow on Eldora Road, Pasadena. We discussed all the details on the phone: time of arrival, parking, items to move, etc. The scope of work required 3 movers, so Dima, our foreman, sent Charlie and me to Eldora Road and came along with us.

Move overview

  • Pickup: Eldora Road, Pasadena
  • Destination: Kenilworth Avenue, Pasadena
  • Property type: Single-story Spanish bungalow
  • Crew: Three-mover crew
  • Inventory: 1 king-size mattress, 2 nightstands, fridge, a dresser, a dining table with 6 chairs, 4 wardrobe cartons, 1 office chair, a desk, 2 rugs, a coffee table, framed mirror, 2 boxes with books

Load at Eldora Road

We pulled the 18-foot truck tight against the curb in front of the house. Dima placed the orange traffic cones at the front and rear so we had a safe buffer while loading.

The client offered to start from the den. Charlie took the boxes with books that the client packed before the crew arrived, while I began to wrap the desk using our moving blankets. Dima helped me place it on the dolly, and I moved it outside. Meanwhile, Dima covered the office chair with our moving blankets. When I went back, I helped him add the stretch wrap as well, which was billed separately. He rolled the chair to the truck.

Done with the den, we moved to the living room, where a coffee table, a framed mirror, 2 rugs, and 4 wardrobe cartons were waiting for us. While we were busy with the den, the client packed her clothes in the wardrobe cartons we brought, so we carried each to the truck. Charlie wrapped the coffee table in our moving blankets. We did the same with the framed mirror, with an extra layer of bubble wrap that was billed separately. Charlie and Dima carried both items outside. The rugs were already packed by the client, so I simply loaded them into the truck.

In the bedroom, a king-size mattress was the first thing to take care of. We protected it with stretch wrap, which was billed separately, and put it on a dolly. I rolled it to the truck, where Charlie helped me position it so it would ride safely. Back to the bedroom, we covered the nightstands and a dresser with our moving blankets, and rolled them to the truck one at a time on a dolly.

Finally, the kitchen had two tasks: a fridge and a dining table with 6 chairs. The dining table was taken apart and blanket-wrapped, just like the chairs, before we rolled it all out on a dolly and loaded it onto the truck. We went back for the fridge, also wrapped in our moving blankets. We wheeled it upright to our vehicle.

Unload on Kenilworth Avenue

The drop-off was a cozy single-story stucco bungalow on Kenilworth Avenue. We parked our truck legally along the curb in front of the house, fitting it between the client's driveway and the neighbor's so neither was blocked.

The dining table and chairs went to the garage because the client had a new set at the new place. Next, we positioned the fridge in the spot the client chose and unwrapped it.

Charlie and Dima brought the mattress and left it wrapped for protection, since the client's new bed frame was still on its way. Then I helped Dima roll the dresser and two nightstands. We took off the wrap and placed the furniture where required. Charlie brought the rugs and left them wrapped in the living room. Together, we carried the mirror in from the truck and leaned it carefully against the living room wall. While Dima was taking care of the coffee table, we relocated all the wardrobe cartons to the bedroom.

I rolled the office chair to the home office and took off the protective cover. Dima and Charlie brought the desk, and we set them up exactly where the client wanted. The boxes with books were the last to come in. They went to the home office as well, left wrapped on the floor. Everything went well. The job was done.
