Adept Moving is a California-licensed moving company (license MTR0190206) that has served Pasadena since 1998, rated 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 reviews. Our base sits at 5028 Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, and Pasadena moves have been part of our Los Angeles work since 1998. Back then a lot of our jobs here were the old Craftsman bungalows around Bungalow Heaven and Madison Heights. Those homes still keep us on our toes. Over the years we've loaded South Lake condos and hillside places up in San Rafael, and we've watched traffic change as the 210 and 134 got busier. My crews know which streets off Colorado Boulevard and Lake Avenue are a pain to park on, and we plan around it. We're a two-mover crew from $99/hr cash. Regular cargo insurance is already included, and the truck fee is separate. No fuel surcharge. No surprise line items. We carry CA BHGS MTR0190206 and an A+ rating with the BBB. After more than two decades here, we know the quirks, and I'd rather tell you about them up front than charge you for them later.

    Serving Pasadena from North Hollywood

We run Pasadena moves out of our North Hollywood base near the 134, so my crews are usually on your block early. Maybe you're in a Craftsman near McDonald Park, a South Lake condo, or a hillside home in San Rafael. We cover the whole city and the neighboring foothill towns. Give us your two addresses and we'll put together a written quote before move day.

What we know about moving in Pasadena

The historic homes set the pace

So who lives in Pasadena, and who's moving there? A big chunk is the historic-home crowd. Bungalow Heaven alone has around 800 protected Craftsman homes, and the same early-1900s bungalows turn up all through Madison Heights and the streets off Lake Avenue. We do a lot of those moves. Here's the thing about a Craftsman: the long covered porch and the narrow original doorways mean a wide sectional or a dresser sometimes has to come out a different way than it went in. We bring moving blankets, dollies, and wardrobe cartons on every job. My crews have walked enough of these floor plans to spot the tight turn before we're stuck in it.

Adept Moving truck on East Del Mar Boulevard in Pasadena, 91106

Old Pasadena, South Lake, and the hills

It's not all bungalows. Old Pasadena and the Playhouse District have lofts and condos in buildings where the loading happens off a busy stretch of Colorado Boulevard, so we time those around the foot traffic. South Lake and Del Mar hold larger homes and condo buildings near Caltech, and a lot of those moves are folks coming in for work at the university, JPL, or Huntington Hospital. Then there's San Rafael and the Linda Vista side, where the streets wind up into the hills with steep driveways and tight curves. That's exactly where our 18-foot box truck earns its keep. It's the smallest truck we run, and it fits where a 26-footer simply can't.

We coordinate the building stuff with you

Pasadena has its own parking rules, and the city's Department of Transportation handles temporary no-parking signs and the moving-vehicle permit for longer trucks. You handle the permit application, the elevator reservation if your building needs one, any gate or HOA clearance, any COI requirements, and the door and elevator dimensions. We'll coordinate with you on all of it and work to whatever window your building gives us. I'd rather sort the access details a few days out than show up and find we can't park the truck.

    Why Pasadena picks Adept

A few reasons our Pasadena customers keep calling us back and sending us their neighbors.

    5.0 stars, over 2,000 reviews

We hold a 5.0 rating on Google across over 2,000 verified reviews, plus a 5.0 on Yelp with 2,900-plus more. A record like that is hard to fake, and it's the first thing we point people to.

    Around since 1998

We've been moving Los Angeles and Pasadena families since 1998. More than two decades in, there isn't much about these streets and historic homes we haven't already seen.

    From $99/hr, no surprises

Our rate starts at $99/hr cash for a two-mover crew, and regular cargo insurance is already included. The truck fee is separate. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees.

    Licensed and insured

We carry CA BHGS MTR0190206 and an A+ rating with the BBB. You're hiring a properly licensed mover, not a guy with a rented truck.

The right truck for the block

Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, so it gets up the hillside streets in San Rafael and down narrow Craftsman driveways. For bigger loads we bring the 26-foot.

    Clear written quote first

You get a written quote before move day with the details spelled out, double drive time included. No vague phone estimate that balloons once the truck shows up.

    What we move in Pasadena

    Local Moving in Pasadena

    Local Moving in Pasadena

Most of our Pasadena work is local. A Craftsman in Bungalow Heaven to a bigger place in Hastings Ranch. A South Lake condo to a house off Lake Avenue. A hillside home in San Rafael to somewhere flatter. Our two-mover crew runs from $99/hr cash, with regular cargo insurance included and the truck fee separate. We wrap furniture in moving blankets, run runners across your floors, and bring dollies and wardrobe cartons. Double drive time shows up in your written quote before move day, never as a surprise.

    Commercial moves in Pasadena

    Commercial moves in Pasadena

We handle office and commercial moves around Old Pasadena, the Playhouse District, and the corridors near Lake and Fair Oaks, the kind near civic and financial offices and the medical buildings by Huntington Hospital. We move desks, office equipment, and furniture, and we work to your building's access window. For commercial jobs a standard general-liability COI is included. If your landlord wants custom additional-insured wording, we quote that separately. You handle the COI requirements, the elevator reservation, and the dock dimensions, and we coordinate the rest with you so the move doesn't eat into business hours.

    Packing and unpacking in Pasadena

    Packing and unpacking in Pasadena

Need a hand boxing things up? We pack and unpack too. Packing is labor billed at our hourly rate, and the materials and supplies are separate from that, so it's not a flat add-on and it isn't part of the $99. We bring bubble wrap, wardrobe cartons, and the rest, and we're careful with the fragile stuff in those older homes: glass-front cabinets, framed art, antiques. Tell us whether you want the whole house packed or just the kitchen and the breakables, and we'll scope it into your written quote.

What to know before you move in Pasadena

A few local details that tend to trip people up, and how we plan around them.

    Permits and street parking rules

    Permits and street parking rules

Pasadena's Department of Transportation handles temporary no-parking signs and parking permits, and you're supposed to post the signs at least 24 hours before move day. For a truck 26 feet or longer the city requires a separate moving-vehicle permit, and that application should go in around 10 days ahead so traffic staff have time to review it. You can reach the parking office at (626) 744-7665. You apply for the permit, and we'll coordinate with you on timing and truck size. On a lot of tight blocks our 18-foot truck avoids the bigger-truck permit altogether, which is one more reason we reach for it.

    Downtown and commercial building access

    Downtown and commercial building access

Moving into or out of a building around Old Pasadena, the Playhouse District, or the offices near Lake Avenue? Access is usually the whole game. A lot of these buildings have a designated loading area, a freight elevator you have to reserve, and a window when moves are allowed. Colorado Boulevard stays busy, so we plan the truck around it. You reserve the elevator, clear the move time with building management, and confirm any COI the landlord wants. Pass us the dock and elevator dimensions and we'll bring the right equipment and crew size, so we're not improvising on the day.

Craftsman bungalows, landmark homes, and hillside San Rafael

Craftsman bungalows, landmark homes, and hillside San Rafael

Pasadena's historic homes are beautiful, and they're a little particular. The Craftsman bungalows around Bungalow Heaven and Madison Heights tend to have long covered porches and narrow original doorways, so a sofa, sectional, or big dresser sometimes needs a different path out than you'd expect. In the landmark districts we treat the original woodwork and floors carefully, laying runners and padding tight corners. Up in San Rafael and the Linda Vista hills the driveways get steep and the streets get narrow, which is exactly where our 18-foot truck fits and a 26-footer doesn't. We scout the access before we start carrying.

    Apartment and condo corridors

    Apartment and condo corridors

South Lake, Del Mar, and the blocks near Old Pasadena have plenty of apartments and condos, a lot of them filled by people working at Caltech, JPL, or Huntington Hospital. These moves come with their own rhythm: shared elevators, assigned loading zones, stair-only walk-ups, and quiet hours. We map the route from your unit to the truck before we start, so the crew isn't guessing. You reserve the elevator and confirm the move-in window with management, and we'll work to it. The earlier we know whether it's a third-floor walk-up or a building with a freight elevator, the tighter we can scope the crew and the time.

Best days, times, and Rose Parade season

Best days, times, and Rose Parade season

Midweek mornings are usually the smoothest, with lighter traffic on the 210 and 134 and easier parking off Colorado and Lake. Summer gets busy because Pasadena Unified's calendar pushes a lot of families to move between school years, so booking ahead helps. The big one to plan around is Rose Parade and Rose Bowl season. Around January 1, Colorado Boulevard and a long list of cross streets close for the parade, and the days on either side get crowded. If you're near the route, we'll schedule away from those closures so the truck can actually reach your door.

Max & Alex are the best movers. They showed up exactly on time and brought any supplies that you may need. They took a lot of care with all my belongings and were super helpful packing up boxes. They took apart my king bed and reassembled it perfectly. They even fixed a loose bolt leaving the bed in better condition than when they arrived. Not a scratch or a ding on anything!...

Not gonna lie after all the quotes I got I was a little skeptical with how affordable their rate was (but I was desperate to save some money haha). But they were amazing! Vladimir and Alik were my 2 men and they handled everything carefully and delicately and like they’ve been doing it forever. They’ve got it down to a science. Nothing damaged or scratched or scuffed or anything and very helpful and communicative. Will def be using them if I ever need to move here again.

After our first movers could not finish the job, I contacted Adept and they fit us in at a very busy time. Our two movers were hardworking and funny and really took care of our belongings. Their rate was much less than our first movers, who did not take great care of our things. I highly recommend Adept Movers.

Adept Moving truck on South El Molino Avenue in Pasadena, 91101

South El Molino Avenue condo, 91101

This was a downtown condo on South El Molino Avenue, right in the 91101 zone near Old Pasadena. The building had one loading zone off a busy block and a freight elevator the owner had reserved for a two-hour window, so timing was everything. We brought the 18-foot truck to keep parking simple, ran runners through the lobby, and wrapped a glass-front cabinet and a sectional in moving blankets. The customer had already cleared the elevator with management, and we worked the arrival around the parade-season foot traffic so we slid in clean.

Adept Moving truck on Blanche Street in Pasadena, 91106

    Blanche Street Craftsman, 91106

A classic Pasadena job on Blanche Street in 91106, near the South Lake district. Lovely older Craftsman, long covered porch, and the narrow original doorways these homes are known for. A big dresser and a sofa wouldn't go straight out the front, so we pulled them through a side path the crew spotted on the walkthrough. We padded the woodwork, laid runners across the floors, and wrapped the furniture in moving blankets. The drive to the new place was short, and we had everything spelled out in the written quote.

Adept Moving truck on South El Molino Avenue in Pasadena, 91101

East Del Mar Boulevard move, 91106

This one was on East Del Mar Boulevard in 91106, a family moving from a condo to a bigger house after a job change tied to the university crowd. We scheduled it for a weekday morning to dodge the post-holiday January traffic still lingering from Rose Parade season. The crew grabbed the truck spot early, wrapped a bed frame and a home gym setup, and ran the breakables out first. The customer handled the building's elevator reservation and we coordinated the window. A three-mover crew, cargo insurance included, truck fee separate, all in the written quote.

    Pasadena Moving FAQs

    Pasadena-specific questions

Our rate starts at $99/hr cash for a two-mover crew, and regular cargo insurance is already included. The truck fee is separate, and there's no fuel surcharge or hidden fees. Double drive time applies, and you'll see it written into your quote before move day. We put together a free written quote once we know your addresses and what you're moving, so you're not guessing at the cost.

Yes, that's a big part of what we do here. The Craftsman homes around Bungalow Heaven and Madison Heights often have long porches and narrow original doorways, so we walk the floor plan first and find the right path for a sofa, sectional, or dresser before we start carrying. We pad the woodwork, lay runners on the floors, and wrap furniture in blankets and bubble wrap. On hillside streets in San Rafael our 18-foot box truck, the smallest we run, gets in where a bigger truck can't.

It depends on the truck and the block. Pasadena's Department of Transportation handles temporary no-parking signs, which you post at least 24 hours ahead, and for trucks 26 feet or longer the city requires a separate moving-vehicle permit applied for around 10 days out. You handle the permit application, the elevator reservation, gate or HOA clearance, and any COI requirements, and we coordinate with you on timing and truck size. The parking office is at (626) 744-7665. Our 18-foot truck often avoids the larger-truck permit on tight streets.

We do. Packing is labor billed at our hourly rate, and the materials and supplies are separate from that, so it isn't a flat fee and it's not part of the $99. We bring bubble wrap, wardrobe cartons, and the rest, and we're careful with fragile items in older homes like glass-front cabinets, framed art, and antiques. You can have us pack the whole house or just the kitchen and breakables. Whatever you choose, we'll scope it into your written quote so you know what to expect.

We don't book same-day moves. A good move takes planning: confirming your two addresses, scoping the access at both ends, lining up the right crew and truck, and getting you a written quote before move day. In Pasadena that often means sorting parking, permits, and any building elevator window in advance. Give us a little lead time and we'll get you on the schedule and do it right. The sooner you reach out, especially in busy summer and around Rose Parade season, the better the timing options.

Yes. We're licensed by the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, license number MTR0190206, and BBB-accredited with an A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance is included on every move at no extra charge. For commercial moves, a standard COI with general liability is included; custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately.

    General questions

It's hourly, starting at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is billed separately. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees. We put the hourly rate in writing before you book, so there's nothing to guess at on the day.

A clean 5.0 on Google across more than 2,000 reviews comes down to a few habits: a clear written quote before you book, uniformed and background-checked crews, regular cargo insurance on every job, and no pressure afterward. Plenty of movers chase volume. We'd rather earn the next job by referral, and the reviews are what come out of that.

For a mid-week, mid-month date, a week's notice is usually plenty. Weekends, the end of the month, and the summer stretch from June through August fill up faster, so give it two to three weeks if you can. We don't currently offer same-day moves, so it's worth getting on the calendar early either way.

Life happens. Reach out as early as you can and we'll work with you to find the next open slot that fits. The sooner you let us know, the easier it is to move the crew around.
