Grand Avenue Pickup
The client contacted us ahead of time and shared information about the things they wanted to move and the drop-off destination. It was an unusual item that we paid attention to right away: a big wooden garden cross that needed to be moved to another address and left in the yard. They also confirmed a legal parking spot where we could park our truck and make a curb-to-the-door load.
We picked our standard 26-foot box truck for this load, and our crew drove to the client. We arrived in the morning and parked at the curb near the single-story house, set out our cones behind the truck, and opened the back. It was a quiet residential avenue with a lot of trees that hung low and a lot of greenery.
We came to the yard for a wooden cross with a gilded sunburst set behind the cross and a carved finial on the end of each arm, just like the client wanted. Alim helped to carry this wooden cross to the truck through the long garden path, while Oleg was inside the truck and helped to load it and stack it. It rode all the way standing, strapped to the wall of the truck. After we loaded it, we came back for a stone statue. It was an antique, heavy item that needed three of us. We wrapped it in the moving blanket and stretch-wrapped it over the blanket with the disposable supplies and materials the client gave us when we arrived. We brought out the statue on a moving dolly and loaded it into the truck.
I went to the bedroom after and carried out a wooden dresser. Alim and Oleg took the bedroom and took apart a bed frame into hardware and rails before it left the house. Then they moved the mattresses on the moving dolly, and it was a wrap.
Forest Avenue Drop-off
Our drop-off destination was a two-story house on Forest Avenue, not far from our pickup. We arrived and occupied the curb legally, right where the client showed us. Our priority was the wooden cross. Alim helped me carry it through the long walkway; we left it in the yard where the client showed us.
Oleg and Alim wheeled in a stone statue right after; it was also left where the cross was. They unwrapped it right there. There were no marks on it.
A bed frame came right after. I moved it into the bedroom and reassembled it right away using the rails and hardware. Then we wheeled in two mattresses where the clients showed us. Oleg carried the wooden dresser last.
It wasn't an ordinary set of items to move. The client was very happy with how we handled a wooden cross and a stone statue. It meant a lot to them.
