Single Family Home Move from North Palm Drive in Beverly Hills to Beverwil Drive

Adept Moving took on a local residential move from North Palm Drive in Beverly Hills over to Beverwil Drive in mid-July. The curb was the part that needed thinking about ahead of time. That block of North Palm has a red zone at the corner and bike lanes running both directions, so there is not much legal space left in front of the house, and where the truck would stand was settled with the customer before move day.

A room by room list came through from the customer beforehand, with notes on both properties. Two items stood out. The sectional was never going to clear the front doorway in one piece, and there was a framed painting under glass, which is the sort of thing you want to hear about while the job is being booked. Three movers went out, and an 18-foot truck.

The job at a glance

  • Pickup: North Palm Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210
  • Destination: Beverwil Drive, Los Angeles, CA
  • Property Type: Single family residence
  • Crew: Three professional movers
  • Inventory: One queen bed, a large sectional sofa, a dining table with six chairs, a dresser, two nightstands, a television, one large framed painting under glass, and approximately twenty household boxes.

Nothing in the load was heavy on its own. The sectional and the painting set the pace.

Loading on North Palm Drive

Entry steps up from the sidewalk, and no driveway worth staging a truck on. Everything went at the curb, like most loads in that part of Beverly Hills. Our crew took a legal spot mid block, clear of the red zone and outside the bike lane, with a cone set behind the tailgate so riders coming around had warning.

We took the sectional apart in the living room, four pieces in all, and each one went into moving blankets before it left the room.

Table legs came off and rode separately, wrapped on their own so they wouldn't scuff anything in transit. The dresser and nightstands went out next, worked carefully past the tight turn by the door. Kitchen and closets the customer had boxed up well ahead of the day, so furniture was all our crew had to think about.

The painting was the slow one: bubble wrap first, taped down so it wouldn't shift. Then a moving blanket on top. Bubble wrap and tape are packing materials that come on their own line of the bill. The moving blankets, dollies, and wardrobe cartons come at no extra charge with the crew.

Upright, strapped to the truck wall, boxes next to it and nothing heavier anywhere close. Everything else went in by weight and by room, heavy pieces low and forward, boxes labeled for the other end. Our mover Maxim went room to room with the customer before the truck pulled out, closets included.

Driving to the New House

Three miles or so between the two addresses, surface streets the whole way. The three movers who loaded the house were the ones who carried it in at the other end.

Delivery and Placement on Beverwil Drive

A two story house at the other end in Los Angeles, narrow driveway. The truck sat at the curb again, and everything came in along the front walk. Ground floor first. The sectional went back together in the living room, and the table got its legs once the chairs were in.

Bedroom furniture took longer. The turn at the staircase landing doesn't give you much room to work with. The bed frame went up in parts. The dresser had to go through corner first, walked around the newel post one edge at a time rather than carried straight up.

The painting came off last and stayed wrapped until the customer had settled on a spot for it. Boxes went to whatever room was written on the side. Placement was the customer's call as the furniture came in, and the three of us walked the house with her once the truck was empty.

Two Tight Spots, No Surprises

Tight curb at one end, tight staircase at the other. Neither came as news on the day, since both had been talked through while the job was still being booked, and the truck and the crew were sized for it from the start.

The painting went where the customer wanted it, without a mark on it, and she said that was the one thing she had been worried about all day.

Adept Moving runs local residential moves across Beverly Hills and the west side of Los Angeles. Our Beverly Hills movers page covers the pickup end of a route like this one, the Los Angeles movers page covers the Beverwil Drive side, and packing and unpacking sit with the rest of our moving services.
