Adept Moving is a California-licensed moving company (license MTR0190206) that has served Studio City since 1998, rated 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 reviews. We work out of 5028 Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood, and Studio City moves have been part of our Los Angeles service since 1998. We've covered just about every street south of the 101. The flats of Colfax Meadows, the tight grades up around Wrightwood Place and Bluffside Drive, all of it. Our rate starts at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, and regular cargo insurance comes with it. We don't tack on a fuel surcharge, and there are no hidden fees. The truck fee is billed separately. Double drive time applies and is advised on your moving quote before move day. It's never tied to how far we drive to reach you. Our California BHGS license number is MTR0190206, and we hold a BBB A+ rating. We carry a 5.0 Google rating with over 2,000 verified reviews, and a 5.0 on Yelp. Call us at (800) 307-1302 for a quote.

Serving Studio City from North Hollywood

We're a short hop east of Studio City in North Hollywood. That means our crews reach the neighborhood fast off the 101 and Laurel Canyon. Ventura Boulevard flats or a hillside street climbing toward Mulholland, doesn't matter. We know how to get a truck in and back out without the drama.

What we know about moving in Studio City

    Who's moving here, and where

So who lives in Studio City, and who's moving? It's a real mix, but the entertainment industry sets the tone. The neighborhood got its name from the CBS Radford lot off Radford Avenue, and a lot of the people we move work in or around film and television, plus the studios over in Burbank and Universal City just to the east. In a given week we might move a writer out of a Colfax Meadows bungalow into something bigger up in the hills. Or an actor leaving a Ventura Boulevard apartment. Or a family trading a Sherman Oaks place for one of the 1920s character homes north of Moorpark. We do plenty of those. The flats below Ventura Boulevard, like the Silver Triangle, are walkable and level, so load day goes easy. Studio City Hills and Wrightwood Estates are another story. Narrow grades, switchbacks, short driveways, and all of that changes how we stage a truck. There's a heavy renter population too, roughly half the homes in 91604, so we're in and out of apartment buildings along Laurel Canyon and Ventura as often as single-family houses. Peak season runs late spring into summer, lining up with the school calendar and LAUSD's June break. If you're moving in June or July, booking early matters more than it does in winter.

Freeways, arterials, and getting a truck in

Studio City sits right up against the Ventura Freeway, US-101, which forms the northern edge of the neighborhood. That's our main way in and out. We usually come off at Laurel Canyon Boulevard or Coldwater Canyon depending on which side of town you're on. Inside Studio City, a few streets matter most. Ventura Boulevard is the commercial spine running east to west. Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Coldwater Canyon Avenue climb south toward Mulholland Drive. Lankershim Boulevard handles the east end near the studios. The flats are simple. Trouble starts up in the hills, because Laurel Canyon and the side streets off it, places like Wrightwood Place, narrow fast and the parking gets tight. We plan the route and the truck around that. On Ventura and the busier arterials, midday traffic is the enemy, so we'll often start early to beat it and keep your hourly clock lean. If your building is on a stretch with no driveway and street parking only, that's exactly where reserving curb space ahead of time pays off, and we'll walk you through it when we quote the job.

Older homes, apartments, and studio-adjacent buildings

A big chunk of Studio City's housing is older than people expect. Colfax Meadows was platted in the 1920s on generous lots, and a lot of those original Spanish and traditional homes are still standing. That means narrow interior doorways, tight stairwells, and the occasional addition that doesn't quite line up with the original floor plan. We walk a sofa or a sectional through those spaces all the time, and we'd rather measure twice than gouge a doorframe. The newer apartment and condo buildings along Ventura Boulevard and Laurel Canyon are a different animal. Controlled access, loading zones, and freight elevators you'll want to reserve in advance. Some buildings near the studios also ask for a certificate of insurance before move day. We coordinate our arrival around whatever window you secure, but the reservation and the COI request are yours to set up with building management. Once you send us the requirements and the room dimensions, we bring the right truck and the right crew size. We protect the place going in too: floor runners on the floors, moving blankets on the furniture, dollies and straps for the heavy pieces. Got specialty items like a baby grand, a gun safe, or fine art and antiques? Tell us when you book so we plan for it.

    Why Studio City picks Adept

Licensed, insured, and rated 5.0 by the people we've actually moved.

The only 5.0-rated movers in Studio City

We hold a 5.0 Google rating with over 2,000 verified reviews, plus 5.0 on Yelp with 2,900+. That's the real reason locals call us first.

    Straight $99/hr pricing

It's from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees. The truck fee is billed separately, and it's all in your written quote.

    Licensed and registered

California BHGS license MTR0190206 and a BBB A+ rating. You're hiring a real, accountable company, not a guy with a truck.

    Here since 1998

We've moved Studio City households and businesses for more than 25 years, from the Ventura flats to the hills off Laurel Canyon.

    Insurance included

Regular cargo insurance comes standard on every move at no extra charge. For commercial jobs, a standard COI with general liability is included too.

    Trucks for tight access

Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest in the fleet, built for hillside and narrow streets where a 26-foot truck simply can't fit.

    Studio City moving services

    Local Moving in Studio City

    Local Moving in Studio City

Most of what we do here is local. Within Studio City, or over to a neighbor like Sherman Oaks, North Hollywood, or Toluca Lake. You get a two-mover crew from $99/hr with moving blankets, dollies, and wardrobe cartons included. We protect the home with floor runners and pad the furniture before anything moves. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote before move day, so there's no surprise on the invoice. A flat in the Silver Triangle or a house up in the hills, we bring the right truck and crew size for the access either way. Call (800) 307-1302 and we'll quote it.

    Commercial moves in Studio City

    Commercial moves in Studio City

Studio City runs on production offices, agencies, and small businesses along Ventura Boulevard, and we move plenty of them. Same $99-an-hour crew rate, with office equipment, files, and furniture handled by movers who've done it before. A standard COI with general liability is included for commercial jobs. If your building or a studio landlord needs custom additional-insured wording, we quote that separately. Lots of these buildings have freight elevators and loading docks, so once you reserve your window and send us the COI requirements, we coordinate our arrival around it. We'll work after hours when a daytime move would disrupt the business. Send us a floor plan and an item list, and we'll size the truck and crew right.

Packing and unpacking in Studio City

Packing and unpacking in Studio City

We can pack the whole place or just the kitchen and the breakables. Your call. Packing labor is billed at our regular hourly rate, that's crew time on the clock, and packing materials like boxes, paper, and specialty cartons are a separate charge. It isn't a flat add-on quote and it isn't folded into the $99. We bring the experience to wrap glassware, art, and electronics so they survive a hillside ride down Laurel Canyon. On the other end, we'll unpack and lay out rooms so you're not living out of boxes for a week. Tell us how much help you want when you book and we'll scope the materials and the time honestly.

What to know before you move in Studio City

A few local details that make a Studio City move go smoother.

    Parking permits and street rules

    Parking permits and street rules

Studio City is part of the City of Los Angeles, so street parking for a moving truck falls under LADOT rules. If you're on a busy stretch of Ventura Boulevard or a narrow hillside street with no driveway, a temporary no-parking permit reserves curb space so the truck isn't a block away. You apply through LADOT's Special Traffic Operations, and the line is (213) 485-2298. Give them about a week of lead time, since signs get posted a day or two ahead. The permit application is your responsibility, but tell us where the truck will sit and we plan the carry around it. A driveway or private lot usually means no permit needed.

    Building and commercial access

    Building and commercial access

The apartment and condo buildings along Ventura Boulevard and Laurel Canyon often have controlled entry, a loading zone, and a freight elevator you have to book ahead. Same goes for production offices and studio-adjacent commercial space. Reserving the freight elevator and securing your loading window is on you and building management, and some buildings want a certificate of insurance on file before move day. Once you send us the elevator window and any COI requirements, we coordinate our arrival to match. We'd rather know about a tight loading dock or a strict noise window up front than discover it the morning of, so loop us in early and we'll plan the crew and truck to fit.

    Hillside and canyon access

    Hillside and canyon access

This is the Studio City quirk that catches people. Above Ventura Boulevard, streets like Wrightwood Place, Bluffside Drive, and the grades off Laurel Canyon get narrow, steep, and short on parking fast. A standard 26-foot truck can't always make the turns or fit the street. That's exactly why our 18-foot box truck exists. It's the smallest in our fleet, and it's what we send for hillside and restricted-access moves. We'll scout the approach when we quote so the truck staging and the carry path are sorted before move day. If the street is truly tight, we sometimes shuttle in smaller loads. Tell us the address when you book and we'll match the truck to the grade.

    Older homes and apartment corridors

    Older homes and apartment corridors

A lot of Studio City's housing dates to the 1920s and the postwar decades, especially in Colfax Meadows where the original character homes still stand on big lots. Older houses mean narrow doorways, tight stairwells, and additions that don't always match the original layout, so a wide sofa or a dresser needs a planned route in and out. The apartment corridors along Ventura and Laurel Canyon bring their own access rules and shared hallways. We bring floor runners and moving blankets to protect both the home and your furniture, and we measure the tight spots before we lift. Send us room dimensions and a heads-up on big pieces, and we'll come ready.

    Best moving days and times

    Best moving days and times

Studio City's peak runs late spring through summer, tracking the LAUSD calendar and the June break, so June and July fill up first. If your dates are flexible, a midweek move beats a weekend for both availability and traffic. Mornings are best on Ventura Boulevard and the arterials, since midday congestion eats into your hourly clock. We'll usually suggest an early start to keep the move lean and beat the worst of it. End-of-month dates go fast because so many leases turn over then, so the earlier you book, the better your odds of the slot you want. Give us a call and we'll find a window that works.

Max & Alex are the best movers. They showed up exactly on time and brought any supplies that you may need. They took a lot of care with all my belongings and were super helpful packing up boxes. They took apart my king bed and reassembled it perfectly. They even fixed a loose bolt leaving the bed in better condition than when they arrived. Not a scratch or a ding on anything!...

Not gonna lie after all the quotes I got I was a little skeptical with how affordable their rate was (but I was desperate to save some money haha). But they were amazing! Vladimir and Alik were my 2 men and they handled everything carefully and delicately and like they’ve been doing it forever. They’ve got it down to a science. Nothing damaged or scratched or scuffed or anything and very helpful and communicative. Will def be using them if I ever need to move here again.

After our first movers could not finish the job, I contacted Adept and they fit us in at a very busy time. Our two movers were hardworking and funny and really took care of our belongings. Their rate was much less than our first movers, who did not take great care of our things. I highly recommend Adept Movers.

Adept Moving truck on Eureka Drive in Studio City, 91604

2BR Colfax Meadows home to Sherman Oaks

This was a two-bedroom character home off Eureka Drive in 91604, one of those 1920s Colfax Meadows houses with narrow doorways and a tight front stair. The owners were trading up to a place in Sherman Oaks. We padded the original woodwork, ran floor runners through the entry, and walked a sectional out the long way to clear the stairwell without a scratch. Pickup and drop-off were close, so the drive between them stayed short. A three-mover crew handled it in a single morning, and we laid out the new rooms before we left so they weren't living out of boxes.

    June 2026
Adept Moving truck on Wrightwood Place in Studio City, 91604

    Hillside move on Wrightwood Place

A client up on Wrightwood Place in 91604 had a steep, narrow street with almost no curb space, the kind of grade where a 26-foot truck just won't go. We sent the 18-foot box truck, our smallest, and staged it where the carry stayed safe. The home had a baby grand we'd planned for at booking, so the crew came with the right padding and straps to walk it down and load it level. We blanketed every furniture piece and padded the breakables before anything rolled down Laurel Canyon. A four-mover crew handled the baby grand, no fuel surcharge, no surprises on the invoice.

    June 2026
Adept Moving truck on Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Studio City, 91604

Apartment move off Laurel Canyon Boulevard

A renter was leaving an apartment on Laurel Canyon Boulevard in 91604 for a place a few blocks away near the Ventura flats. The building had controlled access and a freight elevator the tenant reserved ahead, and we coordinated our arrival around that window. Street parking was tight, so they'd pulled a temporary no-parking permit through LADOT to hold curb space for the truck. We protected the shared hallway with floor runners, padded a dresser and a bookshelf, and kept the elevator trips efficient. The short distance kept the drive quick, and the two-mover crew wrapped it up well inside the morning.

    Studio City Moving FAQs

    Studio City-specific questions

It depends on the spot. Studio City is part of the City of Los Angeles, so if your building is on a busy stretch of Ventura Boulevard or a narrow hillside street with no driveway, a temporary no-parking permit reserves curb space for the truck. You apply through LADOT's Special Traffic Operations at (213) 485-2298, ideally about a week ahead since signs get posted a day or two before. The permit is your responsibility to pull, but tell us where the truck will sit and we'll plan the carry around it. Got a driveway or private lot? You usually won't need one.

Yes, that's a big part of what we do here. Streets above Ventura like Wrightwood Place and the grades off Laurel Canyon get narrow and steep with little parking, and a standard 26-foot truck can't always fit. Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest in the fleet, and it's exactly what we send for hillside and restricted-access moves. We scout the approach when we quote so the truck staging and carry path are set before move day. On the tightest streets we'll sometimes shuttle smaller loads. Just give us the address when you book and we'll match the truck to the grade.

For commercial moves, a standard COI with general liability is included, so most production offices and Ventura Boulevard businesses are covered out of the box. If your building or a studio landlord requires custom additional-insured wording, we quote that separately. Send us the building's COI requirements when you book and we'll get the right document over before move day. The reservation of any loading window or freight elevator is set up by you and building management, and we coordinate our arrival to match whatever window you secure.

We do it all the time. A lot of Studio City housing dates to the 1920s, especially in Colfax Meadows, so narrow doorways, tight stairwells, and mismatched additions are familiar territory. We measure the tight spots before we lift and plan a route in and out for big pieces like a sofa, a sectional, or a dresser. The home gets floor runners and the furniture gets moving blankets and bubble wrap before anything moves. Send us room dimensions and a heads-up on the largest items when you book, and we'll show up with the right crew size and a plan.

Late spring through summer is peak in Studio City, tracking the LAUSD calendar and the June break, so June and July book up first. A midweek morning is your best bet for both availability and lighter traffic on Ventura Boulevard, and end-of-month dates go fast with lease turnover. The earlier you reserve, the better your odds of the slot you want. We do not currently offer same-day moves, so give us a few days of lead time and we'll lock in a window that works. Call us at (800) 307-1302.

Yes. We're licensed by the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, license number MTR0190206, and BBB-accredited with an A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance is included on every move at no extra charge. For commercial moves, a standard COI with general liability is included; custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately.

    General questions

It's hourly, starting at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is billed separately. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees. We put the hourly rate in writing before you book, so there's nothing to guess at on the day.

A clean 5.0 on Google across more than 2,000 reviews comes down to a few habits: a clear written quote before you book, uniformed and background-checked crews, regular cargo insurance on every job, and no pressure afterward. Plenty of movers chase volume. We'd rather earn the next job by referral, and the reviews are what come out of that.

For a mid-week, mid-month date, a week's notice is usually plenty. Weekends, the end of the month, and the summer stretch from June through August fill up faster, so give it two to three weeks if you can. We don't currently offer same-day moves, so it's worth getting on the calendar early either way.

Life happens. Reach out as early as you can and we'll work with you to find the next open slot that fits. The sooner you let us know, the easier it is to move the crew around.
