A Canyon Move from Topanga to Acama Street in Studio City
Adept Moving handled a residential move in August from a house below a canyon road in Topanga, down to a one story house on Acama Street in Studio City. There was nowhere to put the truck near the front door at the pickup, so the road itself was the only option, and everything came out of that house by hand.
It was a standard two mover job on the load, so Andrey was with me that day.
The job at a glance
Pickup: A house below a canyon road in Topanga, CA 90290
Destination: Acama Street, Studio City, CA 91602
Property Type: House with no direct truck access at the pickup, one story house at delivery
Crew: Two professional movers
Inventory: Four antique armchairs, a walnut box coffee table, and a stack of boxes the customer had packed ahead of the day.
Loading Below the Canyon Road
The customer got in touch ahead of time and asked for a morning, which suited a work schedule. Legal parking on the road at the curb was confirmed on that call. We came out in the 18-foot truck, the size that actually fits a street like this one, parked where the customer had confirmed, set the cones out behind the truck, and lowered the liftgate. There was a Drive Slow sign on the fence across from us, so nobody was in a hurry that morning anyway.
Four armchairs, one at a time, up from the house and onto the liftgate.
From there it was all carry. A narrow two way road, the house down a slope off it, and a flight of stairs as the only way in or out. The customer let us in and walked us room by room.
I started in the bedroom with the antique armchairs. Those went in shrink wrap before they left the house, to keep the fabric off the dirt on the way down. Four of them, down the stairs one at a time, and that is where the clock went.
No truck access at the door, so it all came up the slope by hand.
Then back up for the walnut box coffee table. That one mattered to the customer, so it went in a moving blanket and came down the stairs the same way, turned through the corners of the house on the way. It cleared the front door without trouble.
Andrey went back up for the boxes, sorted by room, all of them packed by the customer well ahead of the day. Down the same stairs. In the truck the furniture went against the wall and the boxes stacked in their own corner.
Delivery to Acama Street
Short drive down into Studio City, so we were at Acama Street on time. The customer had a legal spot at the curb ready for us. Ground level residential street, curb to the door, nothing clever about it after the morning we had.
The shrink wrapped chairs came off first and went to the hall where the customer wanted them, unwrapped there. The coffee table came in next, and the doorway was wide enough to take it straight on. Andrey brought the boxes in two or three at a time, sorted room by room rather than left at the door.
The customer walked the house with us at the end and confirmed everything was in. What they noticed was how fast the stairs at the pickup had gone.
No Truck Access Is a Crew Question
Nothing on this inventory was heavy. A flight of stairs and a slope between the front door and the curb is what turns a small load into a long morning, and it is the thing worth raising when you book. We would rather know about it on the call than find it on the day.
Canyon pickups and Valley deliveries land on the same day sheet for us all the time. The delivery end of this one is covered on our Studio City movers page. Los Angeles movers has the wider area, and if you want the boxes done as well, that is packing and unpacking.
