Santa Clarita Move: Apartment Complex, from Copper Hill Drive to Hyssop Ln

In late July, we moved a client from a multi-building rental apartment complex to a two-story single-family detached home on Hyssop Ln.

The move was one of those challenging tasks from the start.

The pickup point was located inside an apartment community, with narrow streets. Luckily, the drop-off was a two-story single-family house with enough room to park. So, the 18-foot truck could park at the curb without any trouble.

When I was aware of all the details of the move, I decided two movers would handle it. I took Vlad to help me.

The Move at a Glance

  • Pickup: Copper Hill Drive, Santa Clarita
  • Destination: Hyssop Ln, Santa Clarita
  • Property type: Apartment at multi-building rental apartment complex
  • Crew: Two movers
  • Inventory: 5 boxes with books, 2 wardrobe cartons, king-size mattress, 2 nightstands.

Pickup at Copper Hill Drive

We received a call from a client on Copper Hill Drive with a request to plan a move in the afternoon at the end of the week. After all details were discussed, we set up the best time possible.

The crew arrived as agreed and parked within the community's shared parking lot (access to the lot was arranged by the client with the management office beforehand). There was a hydrant next to the building. That's why we had to position the truck carefully to keep it clear in case of a fire. At the same time, we managed to park close enough to the building. In contrast to the single-family residences, there was a longer carry distance because the vehicle couldn't get right up to the door. But it was moderate, while the ground was paved and had no obstacles.

The back of the truck was open. The work began.

First, we were headed to the bedroom on the second floor. The king-size mattress was the task. We used our packing materials to protect it. We wrapped it with the stretch wrap, billed as an extra. Getting it down the stairs took both of us.

Then I was shown the library. Upon the client's request, the crew provided 5 boxes, charged extra. When the packing was done, I carried each box to the truck. The client was going to give some books to charity, so I labeled some boxes.

Vlad was dealing with the wardrobe cartons. Both cartons were upstairs near the wardrobe, so he asked me to help bring them down and outside.

To carry the two nightstands, we wrapped them in our moving blankets. Once they were in the truck, we did a walkthrough with the client to see if everything was covered.

Drop-off at Hyssop Ln

After the challenging parking tricks at the apartment complex, Hyssop Ln, with its wide street, was a relief. An 18-foot truck had enough room to park without blocking traffic. We legally parked at the curb quickly and began the unload.

Two nightstands went to the dolly and, upon the client's request, we carried them to the bedroom on the second floor. The two wardrobe cartons went to separate bedrooms, one on the first floor, one on the second. The boxes with books went to the living room, while Vlad took the ones I marked to the home office.

Together with Vlad, we relocated the king-size mattress to the house. Since the client wasn't sure which bedroom it belonged in, we left it standing in the living room.

We asked the client if he needed anything more, but he said the job was finished and he was very happy with how it went.
