Adept Moving is a California-licensed moving company (license MTR0190206) that has served Van Nuys since 1998, rated 5.0 on Google across over 2,000 reviews. Our base is at 5028 Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood. Van Nuys is right next door, so it's been on our regular Los Angeles routes since 1998. We've carried families off the quiet streets south of Oxnard. We've loaded apartments along the Kester and Sherman Way corridors, and we've handled offices near the Civic Center on Van Nuys Boulevard. Our rate is from $99/hour for a two-mover crew, and regular cargo insurance comes in at no extra charge. The truck fee is billed separately. There's no fuel surcharge and no hidden fees. Double drive time applies on the drive between your pickup and drop-off, and it's advised on the moving quote. We write it into your quote before move day, so nothing surprises you. It's never tied to how far we drive to reach you. We're licensed in California under MTR0190206, and we hold a BBB A+ rating.

Serving Van Nuys from North Hollywood

Van Nuys sits dead center in the San Fernando Valley. The 405 cuts through it, the 101 runs just south, and the 170 is a short hop east. From our North Hollywood base we cover every Van Nuys zip and the neighborhoods around it, from the streets near Sherman Oaks down south to the Lake Balboa edge out west.

What we know about moving in Van Nuys

    Who's moving here, and why

So who lives in Van Nuys, and who's moving there? It's the most populous neighborhood in the Valley, and the mix is wide. In a single week we'll carry a family out of a single-story house south of Oxnard near the Sherman Oaks line, a tenant out of a two-story garden apartment on Kester, and a small business off Van Nuys Boulevard. The Civic Center pulls in government and law offices. The airport district runs aerospace and logistics shops, and the Woodley Avenue side leans toward warehouse and distribution. We do plenty of those, and they don't look alike. A house near the 91401 streets is a different job than a third-floor walkup off Sherman Way, which is different again from clearing an office suite near Erwin Street. That's why we quote each one in writing before move day instead of guessing.

    Getting around the central Valley

Van Nuys is where the 405 and the 101 do their work, and Sepulveda, Van Nuys Boulevard, and Sherman Way carry the rest of the load. We plan around all of it. The 405 through the basin backs up hard at rush hour, so when a move heads toward the west side or down the pass, we'd rather load early and beat it. Van Nuys Boulevard itself gets busy through the Great Streets stretch between Victory and Oxnard, with tight curb space and steady foot traffic near the Civic Center. Sherman Way runs east to west across the whole Valley. That makes it handy for a cross-town move, though it's slow at the lights. When your pickup and drop-off both sit inside Van Nuys, the drive between them is short, and double drive time is advised on the quote either way. It's spelled out before we start.

Adept Moving truck on Leadwell Street in Van Nuys, 91406

    Older housing stock and access

A lot of Van Nuys was built out in the mid-century, and you can feel it in the buildings. The Kester corridor and the streets off Sherman Way are full of two-story garden apartments from that era. Narrow stairwells. No elevator. Carports instead of garages, and street parking that fills up by evening. Those are the moves where the smaller truck earns its keep. Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, and on a packed apartment block where a 26-footer can't tuck in, that's the one we'll bring. South of Oxnard the lots open up into older single-family homes with real driveways, and that's a different game. We size the truck to the street, not the other way around, and we walk the access with you when we quote so there are no surprises at the curb.

    Why Van Nuys hires Adept

A licensed Valley mover that's been working these streets since 1998.

    5.0 stars, over 2,000 reviews

Our reputation is the whole pitch. We hold a 5.0 rating on Google across over 2,000 verified reviews, plus 5.0 on Yelp with 2,900 and counting. We earned that move by move.

    From $99/hour, no games

It's from $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash rate. The truck fee is separate. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees, and the numbers you see are the numbers in your written quote.

    Insurance included

Regular cargo insurance comes standard with every move at no extra charge. For commercial jobs we include a standard general-liability COI too. Custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately.

    Licensed since 1998

We've run Van Nuys moves since 1998, licensed in California under MTR0190206 with a BBB A+ rating. That's a long track record on these same Valley streets.

The right truck for the street

Our 18-foot box truck is the smallest we run, made for narrow apartment blocks a 26-footer can't reach. The 26-foot is our standard. We match the truck to your access before move day.

    Gear that protects your home

Every crew carries moving blankets, dollies, and wardrobe cartons. We run floor runners on your floors and wrap furniture in moving blankets. It comes with the move.

What we move in Van Nuys

    Local Moving in Van Nuys

    Local Moving in Van Nuys

Most of our Van Nuys work is local. A house south of Oxnard, an apartment on Kester, a place near the Lake Balboa edge. You get a two-mover crew from $99/hr with the truck fee billed separately. We bring moving blankets, dollies, and wardrobe cartons, lay floor runners, and wrap your furniture before it goes out the door. Double drive time on the drive between your pickup and drop-off is advised in the written quote before move day, never tied to how far we drive to you. Most moves inside Van Nuys stay well under that line.

    Commercial moves in Van Nuys

    Commercial moves in Van Nuys

We move offices and small businesses around the Civic Center, the Van Nuys Boulevard corridor, and the airport and Woodley industrial districts. That means desks, files, office equipment, and the careful stuff, handled with the same crew and the same $99 hourly rate, truck billed separately. A standard general-liability COI comes included for commercial jobs. If your building manager needs custom additional-insured wording, we quote that part separately. You handle the COI requirements and the dimensions on your end, and we coordinate our arrival around your building's loading window.

Packing and unpacking in Van Nuys

Packing and unpacking in Van Nuys

We'll pack the whole place, or just the kitchen and the fragile things. Packing labor is billed at the same $99 hourly rate, and materials like boxes, paper, and cartons are a separate charge, so packing isn't a flat add-on and it isn't folded into the hourly rate either. We bring wardrobe cartons and the rest. Got a baby grand, a gun safe, fine art, antiques, or a home gym? Tell us when we quote so we plan the right gear and crew. We'll match the supply count to what your home actually needs.

What to know before your Van Nuys move

A few local details that keep move day smooth.

    Permits and street rules

    Permits and street rules

Van Nuys is part of the City of LA, so curb space is handled by LADOT, not a separate city hall. On busy blocks, especially the apartment corridors off Kester and Sherman Way, a temporary no-parking reservation keeps the curb clear so we're not carrying your couch an extra hundred feet. Those signs have to be posted 24 to 48 hours ahead to be enforceable, so it's worth sorting out early. Some Van Nuys streets also sit in preferential parking districts with their own restrictions, and oversize-vehicle limits can apply overnight. The permit application is yours to file. Tell us your plan when we quote and we'll coordinate our arrival around it.

    Commercial and building access

    Commercial and building access

If you're moving an office near the Civic Center or a shop in the airport or Woodley industrial zones, the building usually sets the rules. Loading docks, freight elevators, and after-hours windows often need to be booked in advance, and many managers ask for a certificate of insurance before they'll let a crew in. We include a standard general-liability COI for commercial moves, and if your building wants custom additional-insured language, we'll quote that separately. Reserving the elevator and lining up the COI requirements are your part to handle. Once your window's set, we coordinate our arrival around it so the crew isn't waiting on a locked dock.

    Working around Van Nuys traffic

    Working around Van Nuys traffic

This is the spot where the 405 and 101 meet, and Van Nuys Boulevard, Sepulveda, and Sherman Way all carry heavy daytime traffic. That's the signature Van Nuys access quirk. It's central, which is great, but the arterials clog. The 405 through the Sepulveda Basin and the Boulevard's Great Streets stretch between Victory and Oxnard are the usual slow spots. We plan the heavy lifting around them and load early when a move heads toward the pass or the west side. For moves that stay inside Van Nuys, the drive between your two addresses is short, and double drive time is advised on the quote up front.

    Older homes and apartment corridors

    Older homes and apartment corridors

Much of Van Nuys went up mid-century, and the older two-story garden apartments along Kester and off Sherman Way come with narrow stairwells, no elevators, carports, and street parking that fills up by evening. A big sofa or a sectional can be the tricky piece on a tight stairwell, so it helps to flag oversized furniture when we quote. This is exactly where our 18-foot box truck, the smallest we run, beats trying to wedge a 26-footer onto a packed block. South of Oxnard the older single-family homes give you driveways and elbow room instead. We size the truck and crew to the building before move day.

Best days and times to move

Best days and times to move

Summer is the busy stretch in Van Nuys, lined up with the LAUSD school calendar when families move between June and August. Weekends and the first and last days of the month book up fast in the apartment corridors, since that's when leases turn over. If your schedule has any give, a weekday in the middle of the month is calmer at the curb and on the road, and it's easier to lock in the crew and truck you want. Mornings beat afternoon traffic on the 405 and the Boulevard. Whatever day you pick, we'll get you a written quote ahead of time so the plan is set before we show up.

We moved back in March 2026, we went from a 2 bedroom house to a 3 bedroom house and our movers were excellent. We still had some things that needed last minute packing and they even assisted with helping us pack items to get them moved out. They were careful with all our furniture and boxes. They broke down and put back together furniture. We got everything packed and moved in one trip. Our crew was amazing! We would definitely schedule with Adept Moving if we were to move again. Our movers were, Timofey, Alex, and George. :)

Adept Moving truck on Greenbush Avenue in Van Nuys, 91401

    House move on Greenbush Avenue

A family on Greenbush Avenue in 91401 was moving to a larger place a few streets over. The kind of short hop where the drive between the two homes was quick. We brought the 26-foot truck since the driveway had room, laid floor runners through both houses, and wrapped the dining set and dressers in moving blankets. A three-mover crew handled it, with the truck fee billed separately and the numbers locked in the written quote before move day. We loaded early to stay ahead of the Victory Boulevard traffic and had them settled by the afternoon.

    June 2026
Adept Moving truck on Leadwell Street in Van Nuys, 91406

    Apartment move on Bassett Street

A tenant on Bassett Street in 91405 was leaving a second-floor garden apartment with a narrow stairwell and a carport instead of a garage. Street parking was tight, so we brought the 18-foot truck, our smallest, since a 26-footer couldn't have tucked into the block. The crew ran floor runners on the stairs, wrapped the sofa and a bulky dresser in blankets before the turn, and kept the hourly rate with the truck billed separately. Everything was in the written quote ahead of time. We had it cleared and loaded inside the morning, before the curb filled up for the evening.

    April 2026
Adept Moving truck on Victory Boulevard in Van Nuys, 91401

    Office move near Leadwell Street

A small business off Leadwell Street in 91406 was relocating to a new suite a few blocks away. The building manager needed a certificate of insurance before the crew could use the freight elevator, so we provided the standard general-liability COI included with commercial moves. The client reserved the elevator and confirmed the after-hours window on their end. We moved desks, files, and office equipment with a two-mover crew from $99/hr, truck billed separately, wrapping furniture in blankets and running floor runners through the lobby. The whole job was quoted in writing before the move.

    Van Nuys Moving FAQs

    Van Nuys-specific questions

Our rate starts at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is billed separately, and there's no fuel surcharge and no hidden fees. Double drive time applies and goes into your written quote before move day. You'll have the full quote in writing before we start.

We do not currently offer same-day moves. Van Nuys move days fill up fast, especially weekends and the start and end of the month when apartment leases turn over, so we'd recommend booking ahead. Reach out and we'll find a date that works and get you a written quote before move day.

Yes, those are some of our most common Van Nuys jobs. The mid-century garden apartments there often have narrow stairwells, no elevators, and tight street parking. That's exactly where our 18-foot box truck, the smallest we run, comes in, since a 26-footer can't always reach a packed block. We run floor runners on the stairs and wrap your furniture in blankets and bubble wrap.

On busy blocks it's worth it. Van Nuys is part of the City of LA, so curb reservations go through LADOT, and a temporary no-parking sign has to be posted 24 to 48 hours ahead to be enforceable. Some streets are also in preferential parking districts. Filing the permit is the customer's job, but tell us your plan when we quote and we'll coordinate our arrival around it.

We do, the whole house or just the fragile things. Packing labor is billed at the same $99 hourly rate, and materials like boxes, paper, and cartons are charged separately, so packing isn't a flat add-on and isn't folded into the hourly rate. We bring wardrobe cartons, bubble wrap, dollies, and straps. If you've got a baby grand, a gun safe, fine art, or antiques, let us know when we quote so we plan the right gear.

Yes. We're licensed by the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services, license number MTR0190206, and BBB-accredited with an A+ rating. Regular cargo insurance is included on every move at no extra charge. For commercial moves, a standard COI with general liability is included; custom additional-insured wording is quoted separately.

    General questions

It's hourly, starting at $99/hr for a two-mover crew, cash, with regular cargo insurance included. The truck fee is billed separately. Double drive time applies and is advised on the moving quote. No fuel surcharge, no hidden fees. We put the hourly rate in writing before you book, so there's nothing to guess at on the day.

A clean 5.0 on Google across more than 2,000 reviews comes down to a few habits: a clear written quote before you book, uniformed and background-checked crews, regular cargo insurance on every job, and no pressure afterward. Plenty of movers chase volume. We'd rather earn the next job by referral, and the reviews are what come out of that.

For a mid-week, mid-month date, a week's notice is usually plenty. Weekends, the end of the month, and the summer stretch from June through August fill up faster, so give it two to three weeks if you can. We don't currently offer same-day moves, so it's worth getting on the calendar early either way.

Life happens. Reach out as early as you can and we'll work with you to find the next open slot that fits. The sooner you let us know, the easier it is to move the crew around.
