So who lives in Van Nuys, and who's moving there? It's the most populous neighborhood in the Valley, and the mix is wide. In a single week we'll carry a family out of a single-story house south of Oxnard near the Sherman Oaks line, a tenant out of a two-story garden apartment on Kester, and a small business off Van Nuys Boulevard. The Civic Center pulls in government and law offices. The airport district runs aerospace and logistics shops, and the Woodley Avenue side leans toward warehouse and distribution. We do plenty of those, and they don't look alike. A house near the 91401 streets is a different job than a third-floor walkup off Sherman Way, which is different again from clearing an office suite near Erwin Street. That's why we quote each one in writing before move day instead of guessing.
Van Nuys is where the 405 and the 101 do their work, and Sepulveda, Van Nuys Boulevard, and Sherman Way carry the rest of the load. We plan around all of it. The 405 through the basin backs up hard at rush hour, so when a move heads toward the west side or down the pass, we'd rather load early and beat it. Van Nuys Boulevard itself gets busy through the Great Streets stretch between Victory and Oxnard, with tight curb space and steady foot traffic near the Civic Center. Sherman Way runs east to west across the whole Valley. That makes it handy for a cross-town move, though it's slow at the lights. When your pickup and drop-off both sit inside Van Nuys, the drive between them is short, and double drive time is advised on the quote either way. It's spelled out before we start.

Van Nuys is part of the City of LA, so curb space is handled by LADOT, not a separate city hall. On busy blocks, especially the apartment corridors off Kester and Sherman Way, a temporary no-parking reservation keeps the curb clear so we're not carrying your couch an extra hundred feet. Those signs have to be posted 24 to 48 hours ahead to be enforceable, so it's worth sorting out early. Some Van Nuys streets also sit in preferential parking districts with their own restrictions, and oversize-vehicle limits can apply overnight. The permit application is yours to file. The movers I had the opportunity to work with were Art, Carlos, and Robert. Highly recommend — very considerate, kind, and hard working. I got help for a 2 bed 2 bath 1,100 square foot unit filled with furniture. There was heavy rain throughout the entire day and I received help moving from a large apartment complex in OC to another large apartment complex in LA. Distance was about 30 miles. They wrapped and moved all my items carefully and timely outside in the pouring rain and down long hallways. They also went the extra mile by disassembling the peloton screen from the bike to make sure it would be transported safely, exemplifying how experienced and thoughtful they are with valuables.
